Jimmy Castor Bunch
Lots of danceable albums in the early to mid 1970's - early funk/disco hit
"Troglodyte" ensured Chicano Jimmy's record sales for the rest of the
decade. His later songs are as good as they sound (listen for "E-man
boogie", "Bertha Butt boogie", "Supersound") as well as
a few which are better than their titles (like "King Kong", complete
with Shaft style wah-wah guitar work). Late 1970's disco favourites include
"Space age" and "Don't do that!" - one of the best disco
basslines of the decade.
There is also a very rare, early UK-only 12" of "Bertha butt
boogie" (It's the b-side of Herbie Mann "Hi-jack". Jimmy moved to
Salsoul records in the 1980's (also recording on the Dream sub-label).
