Edwin Starr

Soul singer who'd already hit it big on Tamla Motown with singles like "SOS". Even the mighty James Brown turned to disco, though, and Edwin was no exception. His biggest hit was the international dancefloor smash "Contact" from the "Clean" LP, followed by "H.A.P.P.Y. Radio". From this album, also listen for "It's called the rock" (which is far more disco than rock, thank goodness).
