Deodato

Eumir Deodato was a pioneer of jazz-funk and fusion in the mid 1970's; he first recorded for Creed Taylor's label CTI in 1973. He later wrote for artists such as Kool and the Gang ("Ladies night", "Celebration"). After two early fusion LP's, his eponymous releases include the classic disco records "Peter Gunn", "Whistle bump", and "Night cruiser". Listen out also for his first hit - a jazz-fusion version of the theme from 2001.

There is a UK 12" of "Peter Gunn" (very rare) although there is not a US 12".
