Robert James Fry was born on January 12th 2003 in Sacramento, Ca .  He was diagnosed with Pulmonary Atresia, a congenital heart defect just a few hours after he came in to this world.  His mom thought he looked a little blue.  Robert was taken by ambulance from the Kaiser hospital in Sacramento to the University of California at San Francisco.  His parents were pretty shocked to find out he was going to be taken to another city.  When he arrived at the hospital he stayed all the way up on the 15th floor and had a nurse all to himself.  His parents, James and Beth, were told he would need surgery within the next few days and it wouldn't be his last.  Although, his parents were scared little Robert was very strong and made it through his first surgery, to put in a shunt, very well.  Robert's only hang-up was that he couldn't quite figure out how to suck.  But he got the hang of it and was soon on his way home just in time for his older brother's birthday.  Many months past that were filled with doctor appointments, sleepless nights and a lot of family fun.  But before they knew it little Robert or Bob as his Dad likes to call him was back at UCSF for his corrective surgery.  Mom and Dad again were stressed to the max but little Robert was like the energizer bunny and he really was, his pacemaker had energizer batteries.  Robert's Mom and Dad met some really great people along the way , not just the doctors and nurses but other parents too.  The Fry family would just like to share a little inspiration with you because times do get tough and we just want you to know that other families have been there too.
