Thibault, a 14 year old boy from France visited us for 3 weeks during August 2000.  Thibault's Aunt Bridget met Andy and Carrie and arranges for her or relative's children visit with families in the US or Canada.  We hope to reciprocate and send one of our children over to France some time.  What a great cultural experience!  Bridget's daughter, Appolene, was also visiting in Akron.  She visited with Tessa for a couple of days and had a great time.

Thibault is the athletic type so he fit in well with the boys.  They played a lot of baseball, football (the American kind), and basketball.  I was dragged into the basketball games--I think Matt and I dominated due to my size!  We also got to do some off road mountain biking (not much around here but you can find it if you look really hard), and swimming.

He is a soccer (futbol) goalie and his season starts in the fall.  For exercise he would run the 2 miles to the pool while Matt rode his bike alongside (he ran some too).  I thought goalies didn't have to run??  Anyway, Thibault tells us that France is the best soccer team in the world.

I was very jealous when I heard that Thibault had climbed Mont Blanc this summer.  For those American's reading this page, that's the highest mountain in Europe.  It's higher than any mountain in the US except for Mount McKinley in Alaska.  We vacationed after Thibault left in Wyoming in the US.  Try this link to see our photos- The Grand Tetons.

In the true American spirit we introduced him to delicacies like macaroni and cheese, chicken nuggets, hot dogs, and french fries (pommes fritas?).  We also had good food such as lasagna!

The boys went fishing at the Springs house one day and ran into the family goats.

One family excursion was to Cleveland.
