Game 3 of 3: Tigers 4 vs. Twins 10 FINAL

Game Time: 2:47 Attendance: 14,344 Series Attendance: 45,482 Season Attendance: 163,868
WP: Radke: (1-2); LP: Robertson (0-1)

PROPS TO:

*Twins offense Pounded out 10 runs against the Tigers, the most runs in a game so far in 2005 and making for the 6th come from behind win and sweep the series, making for a 4-2 home stand.

*Shannon Stewart 2 walks, even though he didnt get a hit walks can often do so much more, he scored on one of the walks, getting on base, what he is supposed to do.

*Mathew LeCroy 2-4 with 2 runs scored, RBI, and a walk. Also played much better at first base, but best is good to see LeCroy hitting the ball, now up to a .304 average.

*Lew Ford 2-3 with 3 runs and that big three run home run in the 4 run 6th inning, also doubled.

*Jacque Jones 3-4 with two runs and 2 RBI and the Twins first triple of the year, also scored 2 runs.

*Mike Redmond Doing a nice job behind the plate and giving Mauer a day off going 2-4 with 2 RBI, getting the base hits are so big, proves that power isnt everything. He is batting .429 this season.

*Twins defense Nice plays defensively by a number of players, Cuddyer, Castro, Ford, and Stewart all made nice catches.

*Brad Radke His first quality start of the year and first win, pitching 6 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 3 Ks 0 HR. They key in this outing was no home runs were given up by Radke in his 6 innings. The reason for only going 6 was a bad first inning, where he gave up 2 runs.

*Franklyn German and Ugueth Urbina Combine to be the only two Tiger pitchers to not allow any runs, pitching two innings, 2 H, 3 BB, but no runs.

*Dmitri Young and Rondell White Got the Tigers on the board with 2 first inning runs on a base hit and sac fly.

*Ivan Rodriguez Went 2 -4 with 2 runs scored, also threw out Cuddyer trying to steal third base.

*Craig Monroe Took a home run away from Mathew LeCroy, great defensive play!

*Ron Gardenhire After Radke got warned for hitting Marcus Thames with a pitch Gardenhire came out and let Ed Hickox have it, after Nate Johnson hit two batters and got no warning at that time. Its good to have a manager to stick up for his players when needed.

FLOPS TO:

*Tigers defense 3 errors on the night and one was a big one on Infante allowing the Twins to score three runs in the third inning.

* Dmitri Young Opened up his mouth before the series and went 4-12, 3 RBI, 2 K in the series and his team got swept by the team that wont be in the race for the Central Division, guess if your going to talk I would think you would put up better numbers?

*Twins offense in the 8th inning Bases loaded with 1 out and Cuddyer strikes out and Redmond flies out deep to left center field. Twins did not need runs, but cant be leaving the bases loaded when we have less than 2 outs.

*Kyle Farnsworth 1 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 2 Ks, 1 HR Not what the Tigers needed to stay in the game, Robertson didnt put them in the best position giving up 6 R, 4 ER in 5 IP but Farnsworth let it get away and for the Tigers to have no chance of coming back.

*Ed Hickox The home plate ump in tonights game. He started out with a very tight strike zone not giving anything on the corners. Than did not give Robertson a warning after hitting two batters but gave Radke a warning after hitting one batter forcing Gardenhire to be ejected. He than interferes with Ivan Rodriguez after a strike three call on Hunter where runners are in motion, so they have to go back. All of these together made me go looking for information on Hickox, who has been an ump for 22 years. For such a bad night from such an experienced up he gets a flop and put on my Umpire Blacklist.
