Game 1 of 3: Twins 7 at Devil Rays 1 — FINAL

Game Time: 2:22 —Attendance: 8,884
WP: Santana (5-1) LP: Brazelton (1-6)

PROPS TO:

*Johan Santana - A complete game shut out giving up one run on two triples, strikes out 7 and walks none. Johan gives the bullpen, short one of their best relievers another days rest as he only used 92 pitches to get through all 9 innings.

*Joe Mauer - A three run home run in the 3rd put the Twins up 3-1, a lead they would never give up. It came after walks to Bartlett and Stewart and after Punto couldn't bunt the runners over. He went 4-5 on the night scoring two runs.

*Justin Morneau - A two run home run in the 5th pretty much put the game away, a line drive to left field was his only hit, but a big one.

*Twins offense - Was able to take care of business and score some runs, move runners over and get them in a number of ways.

*Rob Bell - Pitched 5 1/3 innings in relief for Brazelton, giving up 9 hits and 3 runs, all earned. But most importantly he was able to finish the game and allow the rest of the bullpen to rest.

FLOPS TO:

*Dewon Brazelton - Threw 69 pitches, 40 balls in 3 2/3 IP giving up 5 hits, 4 runs, all earned and his biggest problem was walking three. Got a 1 run lead and was not able to hold it.

*Devil Rays offense - Was not able to put together anything after the first inning.
