Game 1 of 3: Twins 2 vs. Royals 1 FINAL

Game Time: 2:40 Attendance: 10,133
WP: Santana (4-0); LP: Burgos (0-1); SV: Nathan (6)

PROPS TO:

*Johan Santana Stopped the skid and did what he needed to do to get the win. Tonight that meant going 8 innings, and 8 very nice innings at that, giving up 5 hits and 1 run with 1 walk and 8 strike outs.

*Joe Nathan Came in and closed the game out with a 1-2-3 inning for his 6th save and wining the Twins second game when they score 3 runs or less.

*Justin Morneau His RBI single in the first got the Twins on the board in the first, and continues to show that he is huge to this team, how did we ever win with him out of the line up?

*Lew Ford Got jammed but was able to drive in the go ahead and winning run.

*Jose Lima Pitched his first quality start of the season going nearly 8 innings giving up 5 hits, 1 run, 3 walks, and 4 strike outs.

*Terrence Long and Matt Diaz Combined to score and drive respectively, the only Royals run and tie the game up at 1-1.

FLOPS TO:

*Twins offense 10 runners left on base? What the hell are these guys doing? Night after night lately we load the bases are not able to bring any of them home. Seriously, if the Twins were able to plate half of the runners they have left on base we would have 30 more runs scored.

*Michael Cuddyer Another throwing error, his 5th of the season and went 0-3 on the night dropping his average down to .194. He is better defensively than this and is better at the plate than this. Get out of whatever funk you are in.

*Torii Hunter Big leader Torii Hunter strikes out in the 8th inning with the go ahead run in scoring position, put the ball in play.
