Jennifer on the Set of Dark Angel

Jennifer lives in Louisiana and got a chance to meet Eric Roberts when he filmed Dark Angel. Later Jennifer was actually in a movie herself! So I asked her if she would be willing to tell us how she met Eric Roberts and also how she got to be in a movie. In reply to my questions she was nice enough to write the following story for us.

I was 13 years old. I live with my dad. It all started when my grandma went to get her hair done. My aunt had a blue 1986 Thunderbird. There was a lady across the street from where my grandma was. Her husband fixes cars for the movies. So, he knew that the Director of Dark Angel needed a T-Bird. Well, Brown Pelican was in town filming something called Dark Angel with Eric Roberts. So, the lady asked my grandma if she would rent her car to the movies. My grandma said she would think about it. My grandma went home and asked my aunt if she could use the car.

So,later that night, my dad took my aunt and her car downtown so a director could look at the car and see if it was the one. Well, it was, so Eric Roberts drove my aunt's car in the movie Dark Angel.

Well, while my dad was downtown he was joking around with the director about him being a star. Well, my dad couldn`t actually be a star but he was able to go and sign up to be an extra. Well,my dad ended up doing really good. He was an extra in 3 different shows. He was in Dark Angel, The Big Easy and Orleans.

My dad was an extra in The Big Easy about 30 times. So, one day my dad started taking me to watch them film. I ended up missing alot of school but it was worth it.

One day,my dad took me to the Big Easy studio. He was going to be an extra and he tried to get me in the studio. He told me to wait in the car so I did. He went

and asked if I could go in the studio, a man in there said if he can get me in I could stay. So, my dad snuck me in the studio. He told me to go and sit by some people so it wouldn`t look like we were together.

I had alot of fun that day. I even flirted with some of the production assitants. I ended up meeting stars. I met Eric Roberts, Tony Crane, Larry Hagman, and Barry Corbin. There was a co-star in The Big Easy named Eric George. Well,I was never able to meet him but he did call me. It was awesome talking to a star on the phone. I wish I could have met him. I guess you could say I had a little crush on him.

Out of all the stars in Hollywood and New York, I`m glad I met Eric Roberts. He is the nicest man I`ve ever met. He treated me really nice. He would see me and come up to me and give me a hug and a kiss. My dad even took a picture of him kissing me on the cheek. So, I always tell people my first kiss from a man was from Eric Roberts. I had a major crush on him. I still do. He`s my favorite star. I even gave him a picture that my dad had taken of him and I. He put it in his pocket so I`m sure he still has it. I even got his autograph. In it he wrote, "Red heads are beautiful, ask my wife." His wife is a red head and so am I. I think that`s why he especially liked me.

Well, after meeting Eric Roberts and watching him film, I started wanting to be in movies. So,my dad took me down to sign up. It was along time before they called me. My dad said he kept being in movies to get me in.

They finally called me in December of '96, that same year. I finally got to be an extra in Orleans. I rode my bike in one scene and in another scene I was supposed to be at a funeral. It was alot of fun that day. The experience was like no other. It was the best. I don`t know if I can describe it. But,I will try.

Being out there with stars and crew is awesome. If someone gets to do that they are very lucky. I felt like a star myself when I was in Orleans. Even just being an extra is alot of fun. Watching the stars is fun too. They`re so normal in so many ways. But, like one difference is they have a make up artist.

I was also in The Fugitive about three weeks ago. That was alot of fun too. When,I was downtown I was watching Tim Daly get his hair and make up done. That looks like a cool job. The lady was putting her fingers through his hair. I wish I had a job touching stars. That's one of my dreams. To either be a make up artist or a star. Maybe even a production assitant. Any of the three would be nice.

I was in three scenes for three different episodes for The Fugitive. In one scene I`m getting my fortune read. In the other scenes I walked around. My dad was also in it. When Tim Daly (Dr.Kimble) jumps off a bus, my dad is the bus driver. I actually did get to watch the stars film. Actually, during The Fugitive it was a little difficult to watch them film because I was an extra and I couldn`t look at them or the camera.

It`s so fun being on TV. I hope I get to do it again.
