SHOW WINNERS
I purchased and started showing my first French Bulldog in 1975. Chien was followed by Renee in 1976. While both had their share of wins, I withdrew both from the ring one point short of obtaining their titles, as in my opinion they were not up to the standard, I felt should be required of a titled Champion. My main thrust during these years was the Pug. Breeding and showing under the Chasewood prefix. My stock was based on Susan Graham Wheals Phidgity kennels. Phidgity Marquis being the backbone of the many winners produced and shown. I became spoiled by consistantly taking group and always being in contention for an In Show award. Papillion's and Cavaliers were shown later. Adopted breeds of my children. The Chasewood prefix continues to this day with my daughter, but is now associated with In Show winning Papillion's. French Bulldogs where always my first love and became my sole breed in the 90`s. We accepted the challenge to develop and attempt to remedy some of the underlying difficulties within the breed. A stringent programme of selective breeding & culling has reduced problems to the point, where we can have some confidence in the breeds future, as a healthy companion and recognised for its worth in the show ring. The French Bulldog has been under valued and under rated for too long and their clowns like qualities endear itself to any family environment. A child's companion par excellence. It is amazing the mischief they can get into together. They are Clowns, Not Fools and if you treat them as such, then you will not suffer the disdain afforded those who do not recognise their intelligence. I started judging in the early 80`s and remained a Toy specialist until the nineties, when I passed examinations to also judge the Non-Sporting breeds. Concentrating my efforts, to effect, within a select area, has always been my forte, hence limiting myself to areas in which I have most interest.
