David Soul Bio & Appearances

David was born David Richard Solberg on August 28, 1943 in Chicago, IL and is the oldest of five children. David's Dad, Dr. Richard Solberg was a Lutheran minister, professor of history and political science, and former Religious Affairs advisor for the US State Dept. Because of his father's job, David and his family traveled quite a bit and young David spent some of his childhood in Berlin, Germany and when he was older, in Mexico. David has gone to 3 universities where he studied political science and he is fluent in both German and Spanish. After a series of odd jobs, David went to New York and landed a singing spot on the Merv Griffin Show. David was known as the "Covered Man" who sang and wore a mask. David would wear the mask practically everywhere and people were very curious to say the least about who was under that mask! In the 1960's David co-starred in the tv series Here Come the Brides, playing the role of Joshua Bolt, opposite Bobby Sherman. The show was on for two seasons. David also made numerous appearances on tv shows such as "All In The Family" and "Star Trek" in the early days of his career. David made an appearance in the Clint Eastwood film "Magnum Force" and shortly after that got numerous offers for different roles. Of all the offers, David decided to take the role of "Hutch" in Starsky & Hutch, which aired for four seasons. It was during this time that David also recorded his hit single "Don't Give Up On Us" and other hits such as "Silver Lady" and "Going In With My Eyes Open". David is a man of many talents - writing his own songs, playing the guitar and piano, skiing and playing baseball well enough to be offered a spot on the Chicago White Sox! David is still going strong living in England and continually working on new projects. His last music CD entitled "Leave a Light On" was recorded in the late 90's, and he is heavily involved now in theatre productions in England as well as tv appearances. David had a run as Jerry Springer in "Jerry Springer The Opera" and is currently touring in England in the stage play "Mack and Mabel".
