Virtual Insanity
My name is Fred and this is a site dedicated to my '94 Jeep YJ Wrangler. Please czech bach frequently for updates. I will post upgrades to my jeep as I complete them.
Mar 2004:
Spent alot of time away due to work with only modest changes
in that time. Finally did a REAL lift :)
- Replaced wornout 31" ATs with 31" Mudders.
- RE 2.5" Regular duty lift
I installed the Rubicon Express kit in my garage by myself.
Tip: Dont rush down to Walmart for a budget air compressor
and air tools then expect to zip thru the install of a lift kit.
My air compressor simply would not generate the air needed
to loosen nuts. My Hilift jack handle made all the difference
in loosening nuts.
Mar 2001:
Replaced my worn out softop with a
Bestop replace-a-top with tinted windows.
Also installed a lift in the form
of a Daystar 1.25"shackle lift. Sometime
later, I'll do it all right with a REAL
suspension lift.
Feb 2001:
Installed a set of tail light guards.
Rebuilt the transmission and transfer
after an offroading  misshap. The money
used to  fix that
was destined for a
Rubicon Express suspension lift.
While in Arizona, May-Aug 2000:
Installed: a JKS 1.25" Body Lift, a pair of black KC High Lighters on windshield hinge brackets,
a 48" Hi-Lift Jack in place of the bumperettes on the rear, 2 tow hooks on the front, and a set of flaps
in the front wheel wells to cover the gap between the body and frame made by the body lift.
May 2000:
Drove from WA to AZ; blew the water pump in Cottage Grove, OR.
Average mileage of 14mpg and tank refills roughly every 150 miles.
Not very good. Offroading in the Huachuca Mountains is a blast!
Trails are mostly loose broken rock and get quite steep. Got stuck
for 2 hours in Blacktail Canyon after biting off more than I could
chew with a stock suspension. Thank god I had a jack.
April 2000:
Installed a set of Steel Horse 6" flares. Out of the box,
they come with no holes  so you'll have to mark carefully
and drill your own. They sent me two left rear flares.
March 2000:  '94 Jeep YJ Wrangler.
Stock except for:
   - 31"x10.5" Firestone Wilderness AT's on black rims
   - Tuffy console
   - Wicked stereo
   - Cobra CB
   - Alarm system
Has the 2.5L 4 banger with an auto tranny and will
probably stay that way for quite a while.
