BUILDING SITE AT ROBBIE LANE-CANON CITY

View of our 4 lot property looking NE Early in the founding of Habitat for Humanity of Fremont County, the County Council of Fremont County donated the property at Robbie Lane to this affiliate. There were no utility services on the property which resulted in major expenses to HFH of Fremont County earlier then planned due to an October 2001 paving contract by the City of Canon City requiring that Gas, Water, and Sewer lines be routed under the street prior to paving.

The overall cost of that work was about $25,000. There are other expenses still pending including subdividing the property into 4 lots, paying our share of the PID (Pavement Improvement District), and other infrastructure costs all of which are estimated to cost an additional $10,000 per lot.

View of our property looking North The Habitat guidelines for lot size establishes the minimum area as 6000 sq. feet per house. Due to the shape of our property here, the lot sizes will vary from 6000 to 8000 sq. feet. A fair way to allocate these lots to future homeowners will be necessary, but has not yet been devised.

Current plans call for building our third and fourth Habitat houses on two of these lots starting in October of 2002. Qualified homeowners have already been selected.
