Hello. I am a software engineer currently working in IBM Research in Hawthorne, NY. I work in a group involved with eBusiness Frameworks and tools, with an emphasis on pervasive applications. I am celebrating my 19th year in the business. I develop software mostly C and in Java these days, with some C++. I am extremely proficient in the Unix operating system (although I run various flavors of Windows at home.) For more on my career, you can check out my resume.

I also consider myself a curmudgeon with respect to software development as it is practiced today. I've worked on a lot of development projects and have seen a lot of successes and failures. (I should probably write a book on how to REALLY develop software... YEAH! Cash in on my work - WHAT A CONCEPT - Oh, if only Dilbert wasn't so accurate...)

Personal: I am married and the father of two children. I am a fan on the writings of Harlan Ellison, Arthur C. Clarke, Philip Jose Farmer, and Peter David. I am into astronomy, writing, and hold an Advanced class Amateur Radio license (call letters: WA2YYW). I have a BA in Mathematics/Computer Science from the University of Rochester, NY and an MS in Computer Science from the Rochester Institute of Technology.
