Franklin County EMS is a rural emergency ambulance service with 3 satellite stations, 3 full time ambulances and 2 back up ambulance centrally located at the county's 911 center.   The county is located in northeastern Georgia in the foothills of the Appalachian mountains and is bordered on the northeast by Lake Hartwell.   Over 24 miles of Interstate 85 neatly bisects the county from southwest to northeast.    The western half of the county is primarily farmland with many commercial chicken houses and cattle farms in operation.  The eastern half of the county is dotted with the townships of Lavonia, Carnesville, Canon, Franklin Springs and Royston which happens to be the birthplace of baseball Hall of Famer Ty Cobb. The current population of the county is around 22,000.
