| The Basin City Big Band is from New Zealand in the North Island City of Whangarei, the band was formed in 1991. Although prior to this a Jazz Big Band was formed around the late 1960's to early 1970's and made up from musicians from other groups around the district. The age of the Band ranges from 14 to 70 years young. Young musicians from the Whangarei Youth Concert Band who are showing potential are given an oportunity to play with the Band. |
