A Moose by Brittany

A couple years ago my mom lived in North Bay and she was bringing me back home. It was around 10:00 p.m. and I was sleeping. Then all of a sudden my mom slammed on the brakes and I fell off the seat and onto the ground with a big thump. Then I got up and said, “Mom, what’s wrong?” When I looked out the window there was a big moose. It was so huge that it was bigger than the car. My mom started to beep the horn - HONK HONK! The moose stared right at us and it made a weird noise. Then it turned and stayed there for five to ten minutes and finally it started walking back into the woods. Mom started to drive again.

I had to make new friends when she moved to New Liskeard. I had to say bye to my friends because she moved to Quebec. She is still living there and I haven’t seen her since or heard from her since.

The Great Rune Knights by Chris

One day while, we the White Knights, were celebrating a great victory over the evil Black Knights we got warning of more attackers, the Ice Warriors. We did not know why the Ice Warriors were attacking us, they had no reason to fight with us. Plus, we were not as strong as them, and the reason why we’re not as strong as them is they have Mithral armour and weapons. Our white armour is nothing compared to their Mith armour, so our knights went to get our mages and rangers. When all of our mages and rangers were ready to fight they went to different parts of the castle and started casting a spell called Fire Bolt. We too joined the battle but unfortunately we were getting wiped out very easily. Since we were losing so badly we started to retreat into the castle. As soon as we were inside the castle we blocked off the door and brought all of our wounded knights to our monks to heal them. We sent our guards and some of our stronger knights to stand guard. Within an hour the Ice Warriors had already broken through the door and wiped out all of the guards and knights that were standing guard. The warriors took out all of our mages and rangers within ten minutes, then the started to come towards us. We were all doomed.

Just as we were about to be finished off by the Ice warriors, there was a blinding flash of light. It was so bright that it stunned both the warriors and us. When the light cleared out there were five glowing blue knights. It took us a few minutes to realize that they were the legendary Rune Knights; apparently the Ice warriors didn’t know who the Rune Knights were because they started to charge at them. The Rune Knights were destroying the Ice Warriors with one hit each. At the beginning of the battle there were thousands of Ice Warriors, at the end of the battle there were only three left. When the warriors realized that they had lost, they started to run out of the castle. But one of the Rune Knights was a mage and he used the spell, Entangle, to stop the warriors from escaping. Finally, the Rune Knights gathered all of the Mith armour and weapons and gave them all to us. With the same blinding flash that happened when they came, they were gone. Thanks to the mighty Rune Knights we were all safe from the Ice Warriors or any other attacking foes and we have new improved armour and weapons

My New Kitten by Katelyn

It was a rainy day. My cousin Brandy was walking home from Fisher St. in North Bay. All of a sudden, a kitten popped out of nowhere. It wasn’t until Brandy crossed the street she noticed the kitten.

“What are you doing here?” Brandy asked. The kitten meowed. She felt bad for the kitten. She picked up the kitten and put the it in her sweater.

“If you scratch me once, I’m going to drop you.” Brandy said. The kitten didn’t scratch her. Fifteen minutes later, Brandy was home.

“ Mom guess what I brought home?” Brandy sang.

“ What?” Maggie asked. Brandy took the kitten out of her sweater. Maggie was surprised. She instantly took the kitten from Brandy.

“You know we can’t keep her Brandy. We’ve got Whiskers to take care of. He’ll get jealous."

“Her?” Brandy asked.

“Brandy, this kitten is a calico. It’s obvious it’s a girl . What should we call her for now?” said Maggie.

“What about umm...uhhh... Ginger?” Brandy suggested.

“Sure. Ginger is a cute name.” Maggie said happily. “Now quickly put her in your room before Whiskers sees her.”

Three days later, my mom and I went to see Brandy. Just before we left the phone rang. I went to get it.

“Hello?” I asked.

“Hi is Katie there please?” the voice asked.

“Who is it?” I asked.

“Brandy” The voice replied again.

“It’s me. Hi” I said “What’s up?”

“I have something special to show you. Just come anytime.” Brandy said.

“Well I was going to your house in the first place.” I replied. So my mom and I went to Brandy’s house. About forty- five minutes later I was at Brandy’s house. I rang the doorbell. Brandy’s sister, Bonnie answered the door.

“Hi Brandy,” I yelled.

“Hey, I want you to go in my room first.” Brandy said excitedly.

“Oh my god! A kitten! Mom a kitten, she looks exactly like Kitty!” I screamed. My mom entered the room.

“Did you find a home for her yet?” My mom asked.

“No...” Brandy replied “I can’t find one."

“We’ll take her,” My mom said.

“Really?” Brandy asked. Brandy was so happy she cried. Two hours later, me and my mom went to Wal-Mart. We bought the kitten some toys, a flee collar and a collar, we have cat food already because of Kitty. When I wasn’t paying attention while I was walking, I bumped into Brandon, my cousin. I told him I had to go.

“Mom guess who I saw?” I asked.

“Who?” My mom asked.

“Brandon,” I replied.

Hurricane by Jessie

This is how it all began. It was a bright and sunny day and I was walking to the beach when a strong gust of wind blew sand in my face. I wondered where that came from? I could not get the sand out of my eyes. I rushed to the water to clean my eyes. I hunched over and started rubbing my face, when SPLASH another gust of wind blew me into the water. I didn’t plan on getting wet when I came here. I wondered what was going on? I was freezing to death. I sprinted home to change clothes.

After I changed I went back, thinking the accursed weather was over only to find out it had gotten worse. Over the time period of ten minutes I was already struggling to walk against the wind. Each step felt like a mile. Then I saw the waves, big huge waves that went to ten to fifteen feet. I ran home. It takes about five minutes to get to my house. But then horror stricken I saw that my house was no longer a house anymore, it was a big pile of fire wood and splinters. I almost cried. So I ran away, to where I don’t know? I was running and running until I was knocked out.

I woke up again in a cellar where a mysterious man said nothing as I woke. “Who are you?” I said in a shrill tone. The mysterious man said nothing yet again. “I’m leaving right now,” I said.

The mysterious man replied “I wouldn’t if I were you, there’s a big hurricane going on!”

I dozed off and dreamed about different things that went on. I woke up and the mysterious man wasn’t there, but I saw a note on the wall it read, “The hurricane is over, go back to living your daily life.” So I left and saw the horrid mess which was my town and the sight shocked me.

So I lived with my cousin in Miami remembering the day the hurricane destroyed my town.

I was walking to the park to meet my friends and a whole bunch of sand came in my face and it was so dusty. I could not see and I fell in a hole. I could not get out, it was deep and I tried and tried. Finally I got out of that big hole and I ran home. I made it home safely then I turned on the radio, it said, “There is a big hurricane approaching.” I was so scared, and when I say scared, well I was shaking. My friends scared me. I thought they were bad people. My friends and I ran into the basement. We were frightened so we went to the house for safety.

Later the storm was over so my friends and I went outside.

Hurricane by Samantha

It was a beautiful Friday morning when my friend Cassandra and I were walking downtown to the park. When we arrived nobody was in sight, so we just climbed the monkey bars and talked until somebody arrived. Out of the blue a person ran up and yelled, “IT’S COMING! IT’S COMING!” Cassandra and I froze in our spot and started to laugh.

Later I went to the bathroom and as soon as I got out I heard a thump and Cassandra was on the ground. I asked her what happened. “The wind pushed me off the bars,” she replied. At this point I thought she was crazy, until I fell from a gust of wind pushing me to the ground. “Ha, I told you! ” yelled Cass. Smack down in the middle of our laughter hail came down. Not just any kind of hail, egg-sized hail was dropping down on us. Luckily, my grandma`s house wasn`t far away.

When Cassandra and I got to my grandma`s house safely the door was locked and nobody was home. Cass and I decided to run down the porch, we looked back at the house, it lifted up off the ground. After that Cass and I ran frantically until we fell in an enormous hole.

When we got up we saw almost the whole town. We sat and talked until the storm was over. When we got out, the whole town was destroyed, except for my and Cassandra`s favourite candy store, which to us was a miracle.
