Captain Frank Kuschnereit, CD MA



Captain Frank Kuschnereit was born and raised in Kitchener, Ontario. He joined the militia in 1969 and served with the Royal Highland Fusiliers of Canada until he transferred to the regular force in 1975. He served as an Infantryman with the 1st Battalion Royal Canadian Regiment in London, Ontario and with the Canadian Airborne Regiment in Edmonton, Alberta and Petawawa, Ontario.

He received his commission as an Armour Officer in August 1980 and served with the 8th Canadian Hussars (Princes Louise's) until May 1990. During this time, he was employed in a variety of Regimental positions, was attached to the Royal Canadian Dragoons in Germany for eight months and served as a Military Career Counsellor at Canadian Forces Recruiting Centre Toronto.

He competed his honours BA in Applied Military Psychology at Royal Roads Military College in May 1990. He received his Master of Arts in Psychology from the University of New Brunswick in 2001.

Captain Kuschnereit transferred to the Personnel Selection Branch in May 1990. He has provided personnel selection services at CFBs Esquimalt, Calgary, Gagetown and Borden. As a PSO he conducted many SCAN seminars and resume writing workshops. He also received training in suicide prevention, Stress Management and has advanced training in Critical Incident Stress Debriefing. He conceived and implemented the first Combat Stress Reaction Prevention program in Land Forces Western Area and has extensive debriefing experience in Canada and Croatia. He has published a number of professional papers on a variety of subjects including Combat Stress, statistical analysis, computer administered testing and performance appraisals.His research interests include: Stress management, Combat Stress, Psychometrics, Computer Administered Testing, Performance Appraisal, and Biodata. Captain Kuschnereit is currently serving as a staff officer at NDHQ. He is married and has three children.
