Notes for Eva St. Clair MINNICK
Eva Thurtell is shown as age 25 and born in Wisconsin in the 1880 U.S.
Census Soundex for Webster County, Elkhorn Township, Wisconsin (Vol. 32,
E.D. 220, Sheet 23, Line 25). She is shown to be living with her
husband, Frank Thurtell, and her children Mary age 4, Olive age 2, and
Frank age 1.
She is shown as Eva S. Thurtell, age 44 and born in Wisconsin in November
1855, in the U.S. Census for 1900 for Iowa (Volume 60, ED 102, SD 11,
Sheet 5, Line 70) and living in Elkhorn Township, Plymouth County, Iowa,
living with her husband of 25 years, Frank Thurtell, who is age 48, born
in Wisconsin in December 1852, with his father born in England and his
mother in Indiana. He owns his farm but has a mortgage. The census
shows Eva S. Thurtell's father was born in Pennsylvania and her mother in
England and that she is the mother of 12 children, of whom 10 are
living. Eight of their children are still living with them at the time
of the census.
