Week 8 - "Another Excursion"
This week went by so fast I canīt really even think of what to write about it.

This past Saturday my Spanish class went on another field trip.  We went to Vineyard Concha y Toro and hiked to Cascada de las Animas.  The vineyard itself wasnīt too terribly exciting, but I was quite elated that they let us eat the Carbernet grapes right off the vine.   That was the first time I had the pleasure of eating wine grapes, they were quite tasty I highly recommend that everyone tries them if you get the chance.  Other than that I have driven by vineyards prettier since I have been here in Chile, and I was more
impressed with the wine tasting itself that I did in Door County Wisconsin last fall.  They gave us a fair amount of wine at this vineyard, but of only a couple varieties.  I would have much rather had smaller amounts and tried more varieties.  After the vineyard we drove up into the foothills of the Andes to go hiking to Cascada de las Animas.   I enjoyed doing something a bit more physical and the scenery was pretty.  Most of us also stopped to drink fresh mountain water from the streams on the hike up, umm yummy!  The waterfall ended up being a bit smaller than I had imagined but pretty.   The hike itself could have been a little bit more exciting and comfortable if our director had told us a little bit more about what we were going to be doing ahead of time.  All the trips that we had taken before hand involved very little physical excursion so most people did not dress for hiking neither did we eat breakfast.  Also even when we were leaving for the path, most of us with our backpacks and purses, we still had no idea that we were going to do some actual mild climbing.  Furthermore, the place is called Animas because there is a history of spirits being seen in the mist from the waterfall, unfortunately I didnīt learn this until my family told me stories about it when I showed them my pictures.  It would have made the hike even more interesting if our director had actually told us about it while we were there.
