Mandy Moore (The CD, not the person.)

It's weird not to see her smiling, you know?

Mandy is currently my favorite pop princess. She just rocks. And this cd is really good.

[My Note: There isn't much humor or dislike in this review. And the reason for that is that it's really that good. I'm just stating the facts.]

In My Pocket: Wow. This is definately the next level. See people always say they're "Taking it to the next level." but they never do it. Mandy did. Go Mandy, go Mandy... Sorry. I like the Middle Eastern vibe that the song has and I like the lyrics too. Once I figured out what she was saying of course. Anyway, I'm really glad she went this way and did't just stick to the bubble gum pop sound that made her famous. I really like this song. It's just so different.

You Remind Me: I really like this song too. She has this breathy way of singing that I really like. And she rhymes "movin'" with "groovin'" so she has to rock. Haha. I just really like the lyrics in this song and the way she says them. The idea is cool too. I think it just relates to it's audience a lot more than most pop songs too. Good stuff. This is probably one of my favorites on the album.

Saturate Me: I like the beginning. It has these drum things throughout it that makes it sound different. The only problem with this song is that the chorus is kinda repetative. But most pop songs are like that today. So whatever. And good lord, the lyrics are deep. You have to read them to figure that out though. "The desert I wander lacks its mirage · There's not mistaking the barrage of sand and wind that tears my skin · Leaving what's without, exposing what's within · Forsaken, left here in my barren desolate..." See what I mean? Deep man. Haha. The more I listen to this song, the more I like it.

One Sided Love: This one starts out with that Middle Eastern thing too and her holding some high notes. I didn't know she had that in her. You learn something new everyday. This sounds different from everything I've heard so far. It's fast and the words are kinda rapped. I love how I'm not expecting these songs to be what they are. Awesome. And the message in this one that "One sided love is never gonna work." is true. She talks about being "Hit with your best shot" and I think that was in some song on her first album. It sounds really familiar. I dunno. As usual, I like this one too.

17: This song is really good for one main reason: People can relate to it. It's about being 17 years old, which a lot of her fan base is. Her voice sounds really pretty in this one. Wow. I love the words to this one. "Living in the moment, keeping my heart open cause I'm only 17." I'm just more and more impressed with Mandy as this cd is going on. Rock on chica. I think this is my favorite ballad on the album. She should release it.

Cry: Man this one is good too. It's way to hard to pick favorites. I just can't do it. This is another ballad that I really love. "It was then that I realized that forever was in your eyes, the moment I saw you cry." She really do have a great voice; it's better than Britney but not as good as Jessica and Christina. I don't see why she's not bigger than she is. She sounds like what she is, a 17 year old girl. And I like that about her. This is such a pretty song too. I'm a sucker for ballads. Especially good ones. I just can't pick a favorite.

Crush: This is her next single. It's kinda mid-tempo, but if you had to choose it would be a ballad. I don't know how this will do on radio. It sounds a lot more mature then her ballads did on her first album, so maybe that's something. You can relate to this song, it's just about having a crush. It's a cute song.

It Only Took A Minute: Another mid-tempo song. How fun! I like this one too. It's not the best, but it's certainly not bad. I don't have much to say that I haven't already said about the other songs. This one is good too. It's mainly about "It only took a minute to fall back in love with you." Which is good that she's not singing about things she has no idea about. But I think it sounds pretty much just like Crush. I dunno. I still like it.

Turn The Clock Around: This one's good too. Ahhh, so hard to choose favorites! It's pretty up-tempo which is good. And aside from the annoying "do do do do do" in the background, I like it. Although, the subject matter reminds me BSB's song when they talk about turning back time... Oh my goodness, I can't believe I don't rememeber what it's called. What kind of fan am I? lol. It's either ALAYLM or QPG. Hmmm. ::Goes off to think::

Yo-Yo: Do you know how fun it would be to say "Hi my name is Brenda from Virginia and I wanna request Mandy Moore's 'Yo-Yo' cause I can like totally relate!" Now, I don't talk like that, but it is fun to say the title of the song. And it has a good message about "I don't come back when I'm thrown." It's kinda... edgy. I like this song too.

From Loving You: This is a Diane Warren ballad. You can just tell without even looking at the credits. All of her songs are the same thing with different words. The beginning sounds like bubbles. Fun. This song reminds me of a country song. And I think I remember Mandy saying something about one of her songs "...Having a country feel to it." Interesting. I don't really like it [That's a first] because I personally can't stand country music. Sorry Mandy. And it's too repetative. Blah.

Split Click: This song sounds like song by the Go-Go's. Don't ask how I know that. I just do. It's okay, cause I went through a Go-Go's phase [Let's not get into that one.]... So, yeah. And I don't really understand the song, but that's okay. It's still cool. Mandy is cool. Hey whatever... it's cool.

When I Talk To You: She co-wrote this. That's really awesome of her. And you can hear the live instruments in the background which is better than all that digital crap you normally hear. This one isn't my favorite, but I give her props for writing. It's about her friends ditching her and stuff... Aww. I can totally relate. Ahem. But, yes.

Overall:
I really like this cd. I think you should buy it. Mandy really grew up before our eyes and it shows on this album. Go Mandy!

But baby then I'd be broke without it, so tell me, how much for your love?
