CHRIS and DONNA'S
1952 FORD "KUSTOM"
This is another of Chris' "kustoms". A few months ago I featured his yellow, white, and flamed 1950 Ford 2 door. This is the car he completed before the '50. As you can see, the '52 was not in the best shape after a few years in the prairie grass. Although most parts were not missing and the body was pretty solid, the car pulled from the field was about to undergo a major transformation in Chris' shop.
Chris wanted to streamline the '52 but maintain the basic lines and body style of a '52. When completed, the car should produce the question: "That sure looks like a '52, doesn't it?"
Chris began by sectioning the body to not only lower it but, also to give it a longer and sleeker look.
This lower look was also achieved by channeling the body before being placed the frame.
Although little was done to the roof, the body modifications provide the look that Chris wanted.
Chris does not build cars to trailer or bring out to drive only on sunny days and for special occasions. He builds cars so he and Donna can enjoy many long trips together with all the comfort of a new production vehicle. Their '52 "kustom" would have been a concept vehicle by Ford engineers in '52 but is right at home in 2000.
The details of the '52:
sectioned 5 inches                          channeled 2 1/2 inches
frenched taillights and antenna         customized grille
rolled front and rear pans                radiused wheel wells
shaved door handles and trim          customized and frenched dash
modified seats and floor console      air conditioning
1987 Corvette LT1                         700 R4 automatic transmission
late model GM suspension              custom Griffin radiator
                                  16 inch custom wheels
built and painted by Chris's Body Shop
Chris' next project? A convertible. Maybe next year.
