On Saturday, the Astros & Indians met again for the final game of the season for the Twon Championship. Under the hot Texas sun at Glenwick, the two teams played for the braggin rights of Town Champs. The Astros combined a suffocating defense with an explosive offensive to win the 2003 Town Championship 9 to 3 over the Indians. It was hot, but the temperature must have felt like it was in the 100's for the Indians as they had only 4 or less batters in 4 of the 5 innings. The Astros team effort on defense was truly impressive. The game was tight until the bottom of the fourth when the Astros simply exploded for 5 runs to take control, with two of those runs coming with two outs. Needing 3 runs in the bottom of the fifth to close out the game, the boys would not be denied. With 2 outs, runners on first and second, Astros just needed 1 run to run-rule the Indians. Ryan H. would answer the call by pounding a hard line drive to the right centerfield gap and that was ballgame. We tip our cap to one of the great 8U teams to ever play in Flower Mound. What a group of boys - Cody, Conner, Finn, Josh, Nick, Marcus, Ryan H., Ryan M., Sam Trey & Zach (25 wins and no losses as 8 year olds). What a run! Congratulations Boys on a perfect season!!! |
