Gee, what a surprise.

Another power-mad judge, tsk.
As the clipping below will explain, yet another jackass judge has fried his own liver. I am almost inclined to overlook this faux pas, considering that the judge was dealing with domestic abuse cases all day, but when else would one really need to exhibit self-control, eh? And is the contempt power so broad as to excuse this joker from future lawsuits? Hope this fellow stays out of work, but the other deluded robesters in the Appeal Court will probably let him off the hook. Stay tuned.

From an AP story concerning a California
dentist accused of fondling his patients: "Deputy Attorney General Jeffrey Phillips [had] three new complaints, including one from a 31-year-old woman who said [the dentist] fondled her at least six times over two years." Hmm. Six times? I'm thinking, if you didn't like it, maybe you wouldn't go back after say, the third time? At least?

Jena, Louisiana
expects a large number of visitors protesting the treatment of the "Jena Six," six kids who jumped another kid, and are somehow victims. But right after their march in Jena, the protestors are heading off to North Carolina to protest the treatment of them Duke Boys.
Right?
Please tell me they are.

D.C. Attorney General Linda Singer in a story by Reuters writer James Vicini:
"A law that bans handguns but permits private ownership of rifles and shotguns does not deprive anyone of the right to keep and bear arms, however that right is construed,"
Okay. No problem with that. Just remember you said that when you go after rifles and shotguns, next.

U.S. Attorney General
Alberto Gonzales to Resign.
Good riddance to the poster boy for Bush Administration arrogance. And do you know any Mexican folk who are proud of this guy?

August 12th, 2007--The White devil?
Dig these snipets from two AP stories of Saturday, August 11th. First, "...residents of Kano and the state of the same name boycotted a polio vaccine in 2003, fearing it was a plot to make Africans infertile. Polio exploded in Nigeria and eventually spread to 25 previously polio-free countries."
And, "A 2003 survey by UNICEF said that 97 percent of married women in Egypt have undergone genital mutilation. A recent study by Egypt's Ministry of Health and Population found that only half of all girls between the age of 10-18 years have been circumcised."
It's a pleasure to see the world develop freely without corruptive Western influences!

June 14, 2007--From a story about a gay
Marriage Amendment in Massachusetts

"Jean Chandler, 62, of Cambridge, came with fellow members of her Baptist church in an effort to rebuff the image that strict followers of the Bible are opposed to gay marriage. 'I think being gay is like being left-handed," Chandler said. 'If we decided left-handed people couldn't marry, what kind of society would we be?'"
This woman obviously has a powerful intellect, and a devotee's understanding of metaphor. I didn't realize that using one hand more than the other meant that I was a "brokeback mountaineer". Hey folks, I like this lady's restraint, but if you are a "strict" follower of the Bible then you are opposed to gay-ness, period, and certainly to gay marriage. BUT, that don't mean government gotta prohibit it. We can enjoy our faiths and not have them instituted by government, right? Huh? Right? I've read that before.
This next one is from sometime near the cartoon crisis...
The Vatican, commenting on the recent Muslim cartoon uproar, says that "the right to freedom of thought and expression" can't include "the right to offend the religious sentiment of believers." ABSOLUTELY WRONG! It can and does include the right to offend the sentiment of believers, whether that belief be in religious figures or politicians. What good, really, would be freedom of speech that didn't cover the right to offend someone's sentiments?

Funniest story of the year!

As we draw close to another Christmas (Allah Be Praised!), I gotta tell you this tale of woe. I almost missed it, since I don't usually read Golf World. but it must've been fate. Seems a woman golfer, who has claimed 16 holes-in-one this year, might be a fraud! Can you imagine? Who ever would think that someone claiming 16 one-shots might be lying? Further, this women is having some domestic problems with her "friend", who she just happens to share a house with. Oh, wait, I didn't tell you it's a female friend? Sorry, I was trying to avoid stereotypes. Just because you're a lesbian doesn't mean you lie about your golf score.
Yet, I suggest that a mean and nasty lesbian would lie about her golf score, and apparently this woman, Jacqueline Gagne, is somewhat mean and nasty, since she was accused by her playing partner (Golf World's words not mine) of striking her and threatening to kill her. Search golfworld.com for details and updates.

Mike Nifong goes
to jail for a day, essentially for abusing his power during his outrageous persecution of those Duke boys. But let's not forget the role of the judge Nifong lied to, either. Prosecutors (who for the most part are politically ambitious assholes) need to be subject to some sort of real-time supervision. Judges (a decent percentage of which are power-mad assholes) need to stop acting as willing dupes for prosecutors in cases of this magnitude. This wasn't a speeding ticket we were talking about here, Judge W. Osmond Smith III.
How dumb was this situation? Gee, the guy is running for office and maybe is overdoing it to get votes. Duh. Of course, he was way overdoing it, and everybody knew why but no one did a damn thing about it. Now, I am not that greatly concerned with a bunch of college drips who hire a stripper for their little group pud-pull anyway, but our legal system really sucks sometimes.

Idaho Senator Larry Craig

Toilet troll...Republican....jackass.
August 13th--From an AP story about a Jewish charter school in Florida that gets federal funds: "Hallandale Beach resident Margaret Schorr is sending her daughter Hannah to kindergarten at Ben Gamla and said she was told clearly the girl would not receive any religious education. She thinks concerns have been valid, but have ignored the fact that religion already has a place in public schools. 'If I were to send her to any other public school, you better believe that come December, she'd be learning Christmas carols,' she said. 'You better believe that they'd be wearing Halloween costumes at the end of October.'"
What Margaret fails to understand (and I have no problem with this charter school thing, so long as the opportunity for such a school is open to all interests) is that Christmas is a national holiday. Halloween is fun for kids. If you insist that Christmas and Halloween are part of some conspiracy to violate the separation of Church and State, then you have flyjelly for brains. You better believe.

June 26, 2007--Bong Hits for...
Just a quick word over the "Bong Hits for Jesus" Supremacy Court decision, while I have a moment. Who cares? I can't see this as a major erosion of student free speech, due to the idoicy of the sign the kid was holding up (if you don't know, this case basically centered around a kid holding up a "Bong hits for Jesus" banner during a high school pep rally, or some such waste of time, in of all places that political hotbed Juneau, Alaska. That kid needs a spanking.
Is the decision a threat to free speech?
High school kids holding up stupid signs don't deserve the same treatment as adults holding up stupid signs...er, as adults holding up signs.
Ask yourself how this case got all the way to the Supremacy Court. What woulda happened to YOU if you did this in high school?
High school kids need to get thru the four lousy years, and move on. High school sucks, no doubt, but where in the Gospel does it mention Jesus and bongs? Maybe it's in Josephus, or Tacitus?
Nah.
Sounds like the plot for the sequel to the Davinci code movie. Yeah...Mary was actually mari...see...heh heh...hey, cut it out, bunghole.
