The Florence County Citizens In Action presented its fourth annual Open Government Award at its regular business meeting held August 23 at Bazen's Restaurant. The name of the recipient of the award is closely guarded secret and is not revealed to the public until the award is presented. After the speaker for the evening, Councilwoman, Jenny O'Bryan, concluded her presentation, FCCIA Chairman Licia Stone asked Dean Fowler to come to the podium and read the name of the award winner. The crowd, which had been held in suspense, broke into thunderous applause when the Mrs. O'Bryan's name was announced. Dean Fowler, Florence County Treasurer also happens to be Jenny O'Bryan's brother. During her speech to the group, Mrs. O'Bryan addressed many current issues facing Florence County. After receiving the award Mrs. O'Bryan thanked the group and said she was delighted to see the large turnout that evening and hoped more citizens in Florence County would consider joining FCCIA.
