This year's Pure Stock Muscle Car Drag Races were held at Stanton, Michigan's Mid-Michigan Motorplex on September 12-13, 2003. Once again, the hard work of Bob Boden and Dan Jensen paid off once again!!
It was a good place to see some old friends, and to make some new ones. Even though there were a number of new faces and cars at this year's event, there were quite a few of the "regulars" who were M.I.A.. What happened to you folks??? These missing friends offset the new friends enough to round out the field to about 116 cars
The big news of the event were actually two separate items. The first was a BIG first. We had our first 11 second PureStock racer! COPO Pete Simpson has been close in the past, but this year, Wayne Nelson's 1969 L-88 Corvette blasted thru at 11.98! The next biggest item was that Casey Marks had his F-85 W-31 Olds 350 Certified! Casey then promptly went out and ran a 12.88 (!!!!!) putting his now former antagonists to rest. All that Casey had to say to them was something involving WALNUTS!!
As you will see in the descriptions below, there were some REALLY RARE rides running out there!! If you ever attend one of these events, you will spend your time constantly saying to yourself: "WOW! I can't remember the last time I saw one of those!" Or, "I have NEVER seen one of those!!!"
Looks like the 1963 US Nationals all over again!
I have gathered some pictures to share with you from the 2003 PSMCDR event. Some may be contained in the 2001 and 2002 edition on my web network. But I don't mind looking at some again, and I hope you don't either! Karen and I, once again, had a BLAST at this year's event, and hope to repeat for years to come! Thanks to our friends Dave, Korlyn, Gord, Joan, Bob, Lorna, Walt, Jon and Kay, Steve and Cindy, Jon and Marci, Lorraine and Chick for making it a memorable event!
