"Why should I trade one tyrant three thousand miles away for three thousand tyrants one mile away? An elected legislature can trample a man's rights as easily as a king can." (Mel Gibson in The Patriot)

"Parens Patriae"

Fit Parents' Rights Now coalition is a non-profit organization dedicated to fighting unconstitutional state domestic relations codes, unwarranted government intrusion, and abuse of parens patriae exercised by states effectively impairing, compromising, and crippling parents' rights in pursuit of 3rd party interests.

As a coalition, we are organizing a class-action law suit against states challenging the constitutionality of all statutes providing for 3rd party interests in a parent's authority over their child and what we determine to be abuse of parens patriae as a legal authority.

Not only do such laws plunge unsuspecting FIT parents into what has been known as a legal proceeding which commonly follows a failed marriage and perversely pits that parent in that sort of situation with their own parent--but parens patriae is the authority upon which states act in order to facilitate this.

States should be held to the same standard as doctors when intervening in any domestic situation: FIRST DO NO HARM. If the parent is fit and there is no reasonable cause to question that parent's judgement, then intruding in order to governmentally administer private affairs of that family serve only to:

1)     irrepairably damage any relationship between that parent and their own parent who is invariably the 3rd party...
2)     place a child in the exact same stress and emotional turmoil that a child whose own parents are divorcing goes through...
3)     subject that child to emotional blackmail and manipulation by the UNfit party, and to the financial and emotional turmoil to which the FIT party is subjected to...
4)     and empower a 3rd party to disrupt the parent-child relationship, often beyond repair.

Parents have constitutional guarantees to keep their families autonomous--if we do not abuse our children, endanger our children, abuse alcohol or drugs, or commit criminal acts, the government is supposed to stay out of our families! And the simple challenge of a 3rd party is not grounds enough for intrusion. The government is undertaking to administer family matters! What country is this???

Currently, statutes in many states allow for 3rd party petitions by a person who is not a parent to your child, which can result in that person gaining visitation, partial custody, or full custody of your child, access to personal records pertaining to you and your child, and some degree of parental authority over your child.

This may serve to allow, as it has in my case, a dangerous or unbalanced relative or other person you may be trying to sever contact with to insinuate themselves into your life, disrupt your family and relationship with your child, and wield some degree of control and authority over not just your child but you as well.

It may serve to do nothing short of endanger your child.

Read this woman's story! It's nearly the same as mine!

When the conciliator interviewed my son, he did NOT ask him about violence and abuse in the household...he told my son "no matter what you say here, you're going over to your grandmother's house," and "Grandmothers have special rights in this country!" What are the special rights of parents? Think about it--when they impair your rights in order to provide for rights of 3rd parties regarding your child, what are your rights as far as raising your own child in this country?

Fit Parents' Rights Now coalition is a non-profit organization dedicated to fighting for parents' rights, and the civil rights of those being discriminated against in 3rd party lawsuits based upon their marital status--it is unconstitutional to grant diminished consideration in these types of custody disputes because you are single as a result of a divorce, having never been married, or you are widowed. This violates equal protection under the law.

As a non-profit group, we are dependent upon contributions to function. And as we are currently preparing to file a class-action lawsuit against the federal government, it takes money to do mountains of legal research, pay filing costs and other legal fees, representation, and to petition and organize people across the country who are now or have been victims of GPV laws in every state.

To anyone thinking about donating funds: those who are currently being sued by a 3rd party for visitation, we request that you DO NOT contribute! If you have hired an attorney, then you need every dollar you can get your hands on...if you HAVEN'T hired an attorney, then you really need every dollar you have! YOU contribute to this fight by paying your attorney and WINNING YOUR CASE.

To all others who are not suffering the financial burden of defending your parental rights and decisions to courts and outside parties, who would like to contribute and support this issue, Fit Parents' Rights Now assures you that at no time are contributors' names, addresses, or other personal information EVER passed along to other organizations or sold as lists to other companies. Contributing to FPRN will NOT get you on junk mail lists, spam lists, or telemarketing lists. You also will not unwittingly "opt in" to countless advertisers and spammers by clicking on any link or page in this site. (I don't throw nobody under the bus!) We also provide receipts when requested so that contributions may be deducted from taxes.

If you would like to contribute, please send check or money order to: Fit Parents' Rights Now Coalition, 615 Main Street, #307, Stroudsburg, PA 18360.
