Don't get me wrong; Filter is the greatest band around, but I still enjoy other music. So, for those of you who would like to get an idea of what other music I listen to when the stereo is on, check out this list.

Oasis - Yeah, yeah; all Americans are supposed to hate Oasis, and yes, I'm not denying that they are arrogant bastards who constantly squabble. But, as for their music, it truly affects me. While Filter brings out emotion, Oasis brings out memories. When my friends ask why I like them, I say it is good "summer music". Listen to "Some Might Say", "Champagne Supernova" or "Up in the Sky." All of these songs, at least for me, remind me of past times, and the things I've done and achieved. The same goes for "Listen Up" and "Live Forever". I'm sure you've heard them, but whether you have or haven't, check them out. There is a reason for them having the title of "Biggest British Band since the Beatles."
Best Album:
(What's the Story) Morning Glory? (9/10)

Tears for Fears - The greatest band of the eighties, I like them for much the same reasons, although I am reminded of a time when I was much younger. The sound was ahead of their time and it really was in a leaugue of its own. And if you expect it to be synthisized and highly unrealistic crap, check out "Shout", "Famous Last Words", "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" or "Swords and Knives." A really good band and one of the few I will never get tired of hearing.
Best Album:
Elemental (9/10)

Third Eye Blind - Their first cd, Third Eye Blind, is, without a doubt, one of the greatest cd's of the decade and is the only one I own where I like every song. Filter, Oasis, TFF...they come close, but usually there are one or two songs I skip over on their albums. As for TEB's newer cd, Blue, I was a trifle disappointed. However, if you want an all around good cd, with different beats and one of the greatest ending songs of all time, "God of Wine", I implore you to buy it.
Best Album:
Third Eye Blind (10/10)

Stone Temple Pilots - I own one cd, and, with the expection of the radio singles, it's about average, but the songs of theirs which do make it to the radio make up for it. "Plush", "Tripping on a Hole in a Paper Heart," and " Interstate Love Song" are what rock and roll is all about. The beats are strong and the lyrics are filled with emotion, the way it should be. Check 'em out!
Best Album:
Core (7.5/10)

Sting - No, I'm not some thirtysomething trying to hold on to my younger days. Sting is a very talented artist who writes, playes and produces his own music. Although I like his older work better (Nothing Like the Sun, The Soul Cages, and some from The Police), his new stuff is good, too.
Best Album (as a solo artist):
Nothing Like the Sun (9/10)

U2 - The Joshua Tree is probably the greatest cd from the 80's. This album is all I listened to on the yearly trip we take to Montana, both ways. I like how their songs fluctuate many times throughout a single track. "Exit" and "Red Hill Mining Town are two of my favorite tracks, but "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" is also a winner. Buy this cd; you won't regret it.
Best Album:
The Joshua Tree (9.5/10)

Gwenmars - I just bought this cd, but its good. They are one of those fledgling bands, I need of media exposure, so here it is, for free. I won't tell you to go out and buy the cd, but see if you can download "Neon Tom", "Electro", "Hurry Up" and "The Race". They are the best songs, though the other tracks are pretty good too. Then choose for yourself. The cd is called Driving a Million.
Best Album:
Driving a Million (9/10)

Oleander - I just discovered this band, kind of. I heard thier one (and only) radio single a while ago. The song it "Walk Alone" and it is a great song. However, until I heard it again recently, I hadn't wondered about thier other music. Well, since curiousity killed the cat and not the human, I went down and bought the album It is a phenominal. Some of the songs, as reviews are fast to point out, do seem a tad repetative, it isn't such a bad thing when the songs are good. I highly recommend this cd by an unknown band which deserves to be known.
Best Album:
February Son (8.5/10)

Other Crap:
Sailor Venus - It may suprise some of you, at least those of you who don't know me, but I am a huge fan of Japanese animation (Amine) and the Sailor Moon series in particular. The 22nd of October happens to be the "birthday" of my favorite scout, Sailor Venus, who is pictured at the right. Now, to all of you who think caring about a cartoon is gay, immature, stupid, etc, I couldn't really care any less about what you say. Whether you care or not, be on the look out and if you see her, have her email me ;) Hey, even tough guys have soft spots!

PS I am no tough guy!
