AWARDS & DISTINCTIONS
In 1982, Marie Josée Drouin, President of the Provincial Committee for Canada's Birthday, presented a Certificate of Award to Filipiniana, in recognition of its outstanding and dedicated effort in the celebration of Canada's Birthday.

In 1985, Filipiniana received a Plaque of Appreciation from the Foire Brayonne Festival in Edmundston, New Brunswick for its outstanding participation and excellent performance in the Journée Internationale de la Danse.

Filipiniana was selected to represent Quebec in the 1986 Canadian Heritage Festival over fifteen other folkloric dance groups in the entire province. A Commemorative Plaque from the Minister of State for Multiculturalism on behalf of the Government of Canada was presented to the dancers on the occasion of The Canadian Heritage Festival at the 1986 World Exposition in Vancouver, B.C.  Expo '86 On-Site Entertainment Committee also presented a Plaque to the dancers in recognition of their outstanding performances at Plaza of Nation and Canada Place sites during the 1986 World Exposition. That same year, Filipiniana organized its first live string orchestra, the Filipiniana Rondalla. The company became the first Filipino-Canadian dance group ever to organize and perform with their very own live music. The company also received a Certificate of Appreciation from the 1st International Folklore Festival (Interfolk '86) in Burlington, Vermont for their outstanding participation and in the cause of international friendship and understanding.

In 1987, during its Ist European tour, Filipiniana received a Gold Medal from the 29th World Folklore Festival in Schoten, Belgium for its outstanding participation in the festival. The company was adjudged the best among all the participating international folkloric groups. Filipiniana was the first Filipino-Canadian Dance Company ever to tour Europe.

The 1988 Ethnic Dance Festival of Montreal organized by the Hellenic Cultural Institute of Montreal presented Filipiniana a Certificate of Participation for its outstanding performance in the festival. On the occasion of its 2nd European tour, Filipiniana received Plaques of Appreciation, Medals of Merit and a Commemorative Bust from the 2nd International Folklore Festival in Vila de Arcozelo, Portugal and its affiliates for the company's outstanding participation and excellent performances in the 1988 edition of the festival.

In 1989 and 1990, the 8th and 9th edition of the Festival Mondial de Folklore de Drummondville presented Filipiniana with a Plaque and Certificate of Appreciation for its excellent performances in the festivals. Filipiniana was the first Philippine folk dance troupe ever to participate in this festival which is the second largest of its kind in the world. The company was also the first folkloric group that was invited two years in a row in this prestigious festival due to its impressive performance the year before.

In 1990, under the presidency of Mrs. Fely Rosales, the Federation of Filipino-Canadian Association of Quebec presented a Plaque of Appreciation to Filipiniana in recognition of its dedicated services rendered at various fundraising activities especially the annual CFCF Telethon of Stars on behalf of the association. A Certificate of Merit was also received by the company for its excellence of performance in the Quebec Amateur Netball Federation (QANF) Cultural Extravaganza. Another Plaque was again awarded to Filipiniana after its successful participation in the 1990 North Carolina International Folk Festival (Folkmoot U.S.A.) in Waynesville. The company was again the first Philippine folk dance troupe ever to participate in this festival and was well received by the people of Waynesville.

In 1991, the artistic director and choreographer of Filipiniana received the Philippine Benevolent & Scholarship Society of Quebec (PBSSQ) Artistic Talent Award, in recognition of his artistic and skilful abilities in the choreography of Philippine folk dances to promote our culture in Canada and abroad. That same year, Filipiniana became the first Filipino-Canadian Dance Company ever to perform at Wait Disney World's Epcot Center in Orlando, Florida. The International Festival program of Wait Disney World presented a Plaque to the company after its successful performances at the America Gardens Theatre.

During its 3rd European tour, Filipiniana was awarded Certificates, Plaques, Trophies and Medals of Appreciation from the 3rd International Folklore Festival "Folkart Maribor" in Maribor, Slovenia (Yugoslavia), the 3rd International Folklore Festival in Naoussa, Greece, the 5th International Folklore Festival of Traditional Dances and International Meeting of Young People in Ioannina, Greece, the 1991 Edition of the International Folk Festival in Nea Karvali, Greece, 9th Festival Del Sud Pontino in Minturno, Italy, and the 1st International Folklore Festival in Ausonia, Italy, for its successful participation and extraordinary performances in the aforementioned festivals in which the Philippines was represented for the first time.

In 1992, a Commemorative Plaque was presented to Filipiniana by The Right Honourable Ramon John Hnatyshyn, Governor General of Canada for its outstanding contribution to the Canada 125 celebrations. The Committee also presented a Certificate of Participation to the company for organizing a successful multicultural activity for Canada's 125 Celebration. Filipiniana also received a Commemorative Plate from the 2e Festival Folklorique International de Lachine for its outstanding participation in the 1992 festival.

The Filipino-Canadian Association of P.E.I. and Alzheimer P.E.I. presented an Award of Appreciation to Filipiniana in 1993 for staging a two-hour cultural presentation as a fundraising project for the latter.  A Certificate was also presented to Filipiniana in recognition of its enthusiastic participation in celebration of the City of Saint-Laurent's 100th anniversary.  Late that year, Filipiniana was also given an Award of Merit by the Filipino Star, a Filipino-Canadian community newspaper, for their record breaking attendance and their extraordinary performance in the benefit concert "Sights & Sounds".

In 1994, The Miss Asia Beauty Pageant Committee presented a Plaque of Appreciation to the Director and Performing Artists of Filipiniana for their contribution to the success of the 1994 pageant.

The 2nd International Folklore Festival (Folko-Fete '95) in Chicoutimi, Quebec presented Filipiniana with a Certificate of Appreciation for its excellent participation in the 1995 festival.

In 1996, Filipiniana received a Certificate of Award from the Sisters of Les Dominicaines in Sillery, Quebec for staging a fundraising cultural show for its charitable projects and as part of its 50th Anniversary.  A Cerificate of Commendation was also presented to Filipiniana by His Excellency, Pacifico A. Castro, Philippine Ambassador to Canada, for projecting and preserving the Filipino culture and Arts in Canada through cultural presentations and by acting as Ambassador of Goodwill and Friendship.

Another Plaque was received by Filipiniana 1997 from the Rancho Folklorico Cantaros and Bailares des Açores do Quebec, the organizers of the 1er Festival International de Folklore Portugais du Quebec for being an outstanding guest performer in the festival.

In 1998, a Certificate of Appreciation was awarded to the director and choreographer of Filipiniana for his exemplary services during the State Visit of His Excellency, President Fidel V. Ramos by Consul General Erlinda Quintos-Brewster on behalf of the Office of the Consulate General of the Republic of the Philippines. The Filipino-Canadian community of Kingston, Ontario presented Filipiniana with a Certificate of Appreciation for its participation and excellent performance in the 1998 Philippine Centennial Celebration.

On the occasion of Filipiniana's 4th European tour, the company was again awarded a Gold Medal from the 40th World Folklore Festival in Schoten, Belgium. On the occasion of the 2e Festival Internacional Folklorico Portugues do Quebec, the Portuguese-Canadian community of Quebec presented a trophy to Filipiniana for its excellent performance in the 1998 edition of the festival.

In 2000 and 2001, Filipiniana was awarded a Plaque of Appreciation from the Miss Philippines America Pageant Organization for it's outstanding and dedicated service to the cause of the pageant.

The two television specials featuring Filipiniana were well received by viewers across the province of Quebec and Canada:

"Special AIIo Bou-Bou" - Nos Philippins, produced by the Société de la Radio Canada (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation). This one-hour special was aired across Canada in 1985.

"Le Monde Dans Nos Mains" - Profile: Les Philippines, produced by Télé;-Communautaire de la Rive-Sud (Videotron). This thirty-minute special was aired across Quebec and parts of Ontario in 1986.

In the twenty three years of its existence, Filipiniana have produced nine major stage productions which all received standing ovation and critical praise from the audience & critics:

PHILIPPINE LIFE, LEGEND & LORE - Presented at the Strathcona United Church Auditorium in Dorval, Quebec in March 1982 and at the Ecôle Antoine-Brossard Auditorium in Brossard, Quebec in June 1982.

"KASAYSAYAN "- a dance-drama about the significant events that occurred in the Philippine history - Presented in June 1983 at Le Tritorium (Cégép Vieux Montréal) in Montreal. Due to public demand, an encore presentation was performed for two nights at the D.B. Clarke Theatre (Concordia University) in Montreal in June 1984.

"ALAMAT" - The Legend of Philippine Creation - Presented at the Schofield Hall (TMR Town Hall) in Mount Royal, Quebec in May 1988; at the Place d'Youville in Quebec City in July 1988; at the Musée de la Civilisation in Hull, Quebec in August 1991; and at Le Carrefour de l`Île St-Jean in Charlottetown, P.EI. in July 1993.

"IDAW" - A Two-Part Dance-Drama - Presented at the Salle des Argoulets (Cégép André Laurendeau) in LaSalle in September 1990.

THE FILIPINO HERITAGE - Presented at the Salle Claude Champagne (Université de Montréal) in June 1991 and at Les Dominicaines Amphitheatre in Sillery, Quebec in May 1996.

"DULARAWAN "- A Dance-Drama - Presented at the Salle Marie-Gérin Lajoie (Université de Québec) in June 1993.

SIGHTS & SOUNDS - A Benefit Concert - Presented at the Loyola Concert Hall (Concordia University) in December 1993.

"NUON AT NGAYON"- Filipiniana & Friends - A Benefit Concert sponsored by The Canadian Association of Critical Care Nurses, Montreal Chapter - Presented at the Salle des Argoulets (Cégép André Laurendeau) in September 1994.

"A CELEBRATION "  - 20th Anniversary - Celebrating 20 years of  Filipiniana's existence presented at the Hellenic Center of Montreal in April 2000.

Filipiniana was also featured in some of the major and local newspapers and magazines in Europe, North America and the Caribbean --- Montreal's Star, Gazette, La Presse, Troubador, Images, Westmount Examiner, West Island News & Chronicle, The Filipino Star, The Filipino Forum and Asian Leader; Drummondville's Journal L'Express; Waynesville, North Carolina's The Mountaineer; Puerto Rico's El Mundo and El Reportero; Belgium's Gazet Van Antwerpen; Luxembourg's Lux-Post; Germany's Tageblatt and Volkszeitung, and Sto. Domingo, Dominican Republic's Suplemento Listin Diario, to name a few.

For many years, Filipiniana has been reaping the biggest harvest of critical praise wherever they go. More rave reviews were earned after each tour, year after year. In Europe. North America, the Caribbean and everywhere else Filipiniana has danced its way to share glimpses of Philippine culture.
