THE PERFORMING ARTISTS

Dancing is the oldest and liveliest of the arts.  Through the ages, men in all countries have expressed their feelings in rhythm and body movements.  Dance is the language of the body.  It draws people together in their thoughts and feelings. A dancer is a person who can communicate to the audience any desired subject or idea through dancing.  His movements may interpret religious history or beliefs, or they may interpret things in our everyday life.  In addition to great talent, he must be physically strong, have charm, grace, physical attractiveness and self-discipline.  He must love to dance so much that he will devote most spare time available to dancing in spite of any obstacles. The performing artists of Filipiniana are able to exhibit these qualities only after spending many hours of training and practice. They are trained in both the basic and complex movements and execution of the dance and are judged according to their utmost interest in the world of dancing. So, when the curtain opens, the lights are on, and there are thousands of spectators, they perform at their very best to make each dance a reality.
