The pentacle (the five-pointed star with a circle around it) is an important symbol in Wicca. Each point represents the elements- Earth, Air, Fire, Water, Spirit (also known as 'Akasha'). The circle around the star represents the endless cycle of life we know as Birth, Growth, Death and Re-Birth. The pentacle is also a symbol of protection and most Wiccans wear it as a pendant on a necklace.
The inverted pentagram (the pentacle upside down) has nothing to do with Wicca as it can symbolise satanism which has nothing to do with Wicca!
