Welcome To MiamiSucks.net

The Dolphins get an A for their draft in my book. They addressed every pressing need and kept their cool when, in the past, they would have panicked and abandoned their strategy for lesser talent. The team can always trade away talented players that they do not need for talented players that fill needs. As GM, Wanny almost always disregarded the scouts hard work and went for long shots at positions we wanted instead of near sure things (as sure as draftees can be) that would give the team flexible trade options in later years. I am not sure how well the players selected will pan out for rookie GM Spielman, but he gets high marks from me for sticking with his original plan, even if the fans are dissatisfied now. Jeers can quickly become cheers if Rick’s selections provide the trade power to get the OL we need to fill gaps, or that third receiver we need. So, while I guarantee nothing, I can at least feel more confident in our GM calling the shots he intended to call, and that provides a small measure of relief. Time will tell what really went down this weekend, but I still think this draft will be more of a strength for Miami than a weakness...

Spielman Drafts OG in 1st Round

GM Rick Spielman made a small splash in Miami's draft, trading up a spot to get the last remaining quality Offensive Lineman, Vernon Carey, with the 19th selection. Carey should be able to plug into either the Right Tackle spot (previously occupied by free Agent loss Todd Wade and projected to be John St. Clair's position) or the open Guard spot. The opening on the left side is Jamie Nails' LG position, which is as yet unfilled by quality talent and was previously slated as the starting spot for either Taylor Whitley or Greg Jerman, both back-up level players that would be starting out of necessity. The addition of Vernon Carey makes our offensive line look much better for next season.

Injury Updates

Eddie Moore said he is only up to 70% recovery from his season ending ankle injury last year in training camp. He is also in legal trouble for getting into a brawl at a club.

Collins, Warner...Maddox?

The June 1st cuts may bring a fine crop of veteran quarterbacks from which Miami could select. Rick Spielman could have the opportunity to choose between Kerry Collins, Kurt Warner and even Tommy Maddox, all of whom may be out of a job because of younger quarterbacks like Marc Bulger and draftees projected as potential franchise quarterbacks like Ben Roethlisberger and Eli Manning. Rex Grossman and JP Lossman are also rated as highly probable starters sometime in the near future.

A Tough Decision?

The Dolphins took a decidedly different approach in the draft this season. They drafted tough and talented players with leadership skills and a killer instinct, something they have been criticized for lacking since Jimmy Johnson left. One thing is for sure, the draftees may not be the highest rated, but at least four are known as tough minded, tough bodied, hard-hitting players. Miami also over-looked potential character issues and chose to draft slight risks, something they haven't done since Cecil Collins (clearly a deterrant, I'll grant Wanny that) and something that made them overlook Randy Moss!
