Ongoing Research 

 

Geometry and kinematics of faulting in the Mt. Isa region (Queensland, Australia, and New Zealand (Ostler Fault, Mackenzie Basin) and Hikurangi margin, based on field mapping, structural assemblages and interpretation of seismic reflection profiles.

Style of inversion tectonics in the South Island (New Zealand): reactivation of inherited fault systems versus creation of new, favourably oriented, thrusts. Estimates of shortening from restored balanced sections.  Implications for seismic hazard.

Structural setting and progressive deformation history in the Sicily outer fold-and-thrust belt (Gela nappe) based on structural analyses, stratigraphy of syntectonic clastic wedges and interpretation of seismic lines.  Cross-section balancing, analysis of fractured reservoirs and implications for oil migration.
