| Final Furlong Racing News Longshot Wins the Millionaire Championship Stakes |
| Bluegrass Downs- The Millionaire Championship Stakes is a $4,000,000 race hosted at Blue Grass Downs. Some of the top handicap horses went into the race, but the longshot, Love's Tricks, pushed his way to first. Love's Tricks, owned by Silver Hill Stables has only won one race this term: an allowance for four-year-olds and up. His second-greatest feat was coming in second in the Jockey Memorial in January. Since then he hasn't shown much speed. As the horses flew out of the gate, Unbridled Heart and Holiday Curse took the lead. Love's Tricks ran off the pace and Maholla's Victory and Love Potion stayed at last. In the first turn the favorite Unbridled Heart began to fade and Maholla's Victory sailed up to the lead. BC Classic winner Holiday Curse held on strong. Coming into the stretch Love's Tricks made his move on the leaders. He began to pull away from Holiday Curse and moved up on the Townsend colt. Maholla's Victory ran on determindly but with only four furlongs to go Love's Tricks powered away, winning by a neck. Holiday Curse held onto third, Unbridled Heart finished fourth and the horse that beat Love's Tricks in teh Jockey Memorial, Love Potion, finished last. "We're amazed at what an effort he put into the race," commented his trainer. "He can be such an amazing horse when he puts his heart into it." When asked about Breeder's Cup possibilities she simply replied "We'll see." |
