Brian Jacques, and C.S. Lewis are all great fantasy writers. And since that's all I read
that's all the advice I can give you on that.

One thing that I can say is that Robert Jordan has wrighten on of the best fantasy stories of all time, I highly incurrage you to read them. In fact this story is so good that scores of people have become totally obsesced with them, there are so many web sites for it that there is actually an Index for all these site.
