February  9 - Monday

Here is the tutorial, by popular demand, for uploading the files to Geocities. Click Here

February 7 - Saturday

Here are some concepts that some are not getting:

  1. When someone comes to your site, the only thing they see is what is in 'index.html'.

  2. The files and folders in Geocities must be identical to those on your hard drive. You accomplish this with the Upload.

  3. Front Page Express is free and is an  early version of Front Page.

  4. Front Page is used to create and edit .html files the same as Word creates and edits .doc files.

  5. All files should be edited on your hard drive and then uploaded to the Geocities file manager.

Here are links to four pages. This will allow you to put some items in the four folders I told you about: Clips, Backgrounds, Image and Thp. Create the folders on your hard drive and put the items there. If you have any problems or don't understand then call or e-mail me. Try to get this done before Saturday.

January 27 - Tuesday

There has been some confusion about starting a Geocities account. Here is step-by-step instructions. Click here.

January 24 - Saturday

Click on the Syllabus book above to see the plan for the classes

January 22 - Thursday

One thing that is very necessary for the upcoming class is a knowledge of files and folders. Here is a tutorial on this subject. TUTORIAL Click on it to go there.

You will also be using Yahoo Geocities unless you have your own web hosting site. For a tutorial on Geocities click here: TUTORIAL

January 19 - Monday

I hope you all have Front Page or FrontPage Express loaded in your computer by now. Next you will have to get a HOST. That is a place on the internet to put your web page. Some ISP's (Internet Service Providers) will provide space for their customers. Some places you can purchase room for a monthly fee. Yahoo provides free HOST facilities called Geocities. This is what I use and what I will be demonstrating in class. I suggest you use this as a starting point. You must first open a yahoo account. Try to do this now. Email me if you have any problems. Good luck.

January 16 - Friday

New member Francis Kendrick just joined us. Welcome Francis.

Click here to see another of my web sites. This is a typical multi page site which you will be able to do. During the class we will probably be building this web site you are looking at as a start and then adding other features to it as we go along.

January 15 - Thursday

Here is another web site of mine that you should look at. click here Notice in particular the Video Library page. you can click on a tape in green type to see the review of it. We should be able to cover this feature in the class also.

January 12 - Monday

We have another new member, Herb Swanstrom, Lil's husband. That makes nineteen class members. That's about as big a class as we should have but someone will probably drop out before the class starts. Jim Unger has moved from the January class to this one.

If you have not gotten Front Page or FrontPage Express on you computer then call or e-mail me to get this done before class starts.

People are wondering how to tell if they have FrontPage Express on their computer. First, click on Start then Programs then look for Internet Explorer with a triangle to the right of it. Put the cursor on it and the menu should show FrontPage Express. If that does not work, click on Start then Find or Search and enter "fpxpress.exe" and search the entire C drive.  If that does not work then down load it as shown below on January 4 or 6.

January 10 - Saturday

I just finished the first January class. Everything went as planned. The computers we will be using has Microsoft Front Page 2000 on them. There are still a few openings for the February class.

This is my most used web site. click here. I update this one every day. There are two pages that you may not be able to do at the end of this SIG. One is the Orange Acres Directory page which requires knowledge of the HTML language and the other is the Photo Albums page which requires the HTML language and a program called Adobe LiveMotion.

January 6 - Tuesday

Another way to download FrontPage Express is to click here: --> I'll show in class how to do this.

January 4 - Sunday

Another source for downloading FrontPage express is Dave's Bytes Downloads. It is clear at the bottom of the page.

January 2 - Friday

For a simple two page web site, click here. This uses a lot of pictures and some links to other web sites. It also uses Yahoo for a photo album. You should be able to do everything on this site at the end of the SIG.

December 29 - Monday

I decided to make this like a journal.  Each day I will try to provide something which will prepare you for the class.  The latest entries will always be at the top.

If you would like to leave a comment for all to see then click the Book above.

Information will appear here about the class

At this time, there were 30 asked to be in this SIG but only the first 20 made it in. I will probably hold another class in March.
