March 5, 2002

Today’s class was on "Nutrition and Exercise". The instructor was Ms. Xx.
The class was OK and not as lively as the earlier one. Infact we (and others too)
started getting bored after a while.

March 15, 2002 - The First Movement

I think I felt my baby move, for the first time. Not quite sure though,
I felt like a butterfly fluttering inside my stomach. What an eventful day!

March 18, 2002 - The In-Depth Ultrasound Scan

The ultrasound scan was scheduled at 2:40 p.m. I was instructed to finish
drinking about 5 glasses of liquid atleast one hour before the scheduled
start of scan and not go to the rest room thereafter until the scan was over!!
          It sounded scary

I knew I wouldn’t be able to drive to the hospital, which is about 25 miles from my work
place, with all this pre-requisites for the scan. Hence Sathish came to pick me up from
my work place. We went to the hospital and checked in at 2 p.m.

The effect of having drunk five glasses of liquid was getting afflictive and the clock
doesn’t seem to tick at all Sathish saw my rueful state and went to request the
technologist, if the scan could be done a little earlier than 2:40 p.m.

The technologist (too bad of me - I forgot her name) was courteous enough to call me in.
She said she would do some initial study very quickly and then allow me to use the
restroom. I was so thankful to her and what a great relief it was after that initial
study was over!!! She told us that everything looked normal, the baby is growing and is
exactly as it should be for me being 19 weeks and 6 days pregnant then. She also asked us
if we wanted to know the sex of the baby and we said "No".
We thought we would wait for a surprise.

At the end of the scan, she wished us good luck and gave us some pictures of our baby.
The pictures were wonderful too (See below). It clearly shows our baby’s profile -
          nose, mouth, chin, arms...
