Hi! Welcome to my page. This project is to let you know a little more about me and to put a face to the name.

My best friend decided we needed to lose weight. She said we were joining Weight Watchers and on September 4, 2002 she shanghaied me to a meeting. She's done this type of thing all of our lives. I've known her since we were children. The week before Thanksgiving, she quit. It's been lonesome without her, but now that I've begun, I can't stop!

It's difficult for me to exercise cuz I'm in a wheelchair. I'm an above the knee amputee. I weigh in each week in my chair that weighs 51.6 lbs.  I have gained so much weight in last couple of years, I could not fit into my prosthetic leg! That was why I didn't fight my friend about losing weight.

I need lots of motivation, so I've joined some groups to help in that area. I am a Mermaid, and a Skinny Chickie. Go chickies!!! The Mermaids were a group that focused on water and its benefits. The Skinny Chickies (Jenntucker, linneybug, heathercoolio, llzisko, and I) are a team of five women that participate in different challenges together. These women have been important in my weight loss by cheering me on.

My top weight was 298.1 when I joined WW. My weigh ins are on Wednesday evenings at 5pm. I wear the same outfit every week and eat nothing until after WI. Yes, I'm neurotic! I have been known to cry through a meeting if I had a gain.

I share on the 100+ board of the WW site. There is always someone there to listen, or motivate.

Welcome to my world and visit often.

UPDATE: I've been on program for a year now. I've lost 60 lbs and feel like it should be more. My BMI has gone from 52 to 42, I've went from a 24" wheelchair that weighed 51.6 to standard chair that weighs 34.7, and I've come down two sizes in my clothes. I give them away as soon as they become too big.  I'm afraid if I keep them, I'm giving myself permission to gain it back.  My leg fits fine, but I'm having to learn how to use it again.  I added an exercise tape to my program, Richard Simmons' Sittin Tight.

The Mermaids group is no longer open.  The Skinny Chickies have had a rough year, but still in touch. I have added the Jinglebells (another challenge group).
