Musiques du Mali

Super Biton was one of the great bands of Mali of the 1980s. The origin of the band can be found in the Orchestre Régional de Segou, one of the regional bands in competition at the Biennales festivals (they won several prices at the first Biennale in 1970).
The music of Super Biton is full of energy, as is the bambara music compared to the malinké griot music. Unfortunately, the group desintegrated at the end of the 1980s. Some musicians recorded solo albums since, such as Mama Sissoko and singer Mamadou Doumbia.

Some band members: Mamadou Doumbia (lead vocal), Mama Sissoko (solo guitar), Amadou Ba (trumpet and Chef d'orchestre), Abou Touré (alto sax).

Created: in Segou.
Style: bambara.
