11/22/00 - Clinton "Rock" Perrilloux, a former St. John the Baptist councilman was arrested and booked for DWI and careless driving this past Saturday. His blood-alcohol level was .094 - below the legal mandate. Looks like a plea bargain case. Careless driving...drop the DWI, since it's below the accepted level for intoxication. State police say he was still DUI. But, DUI is not DWI. DUI is driving under the influence....If you're just done eating Oreos...are you DUIO? Just what is DUI, anyway? Anyway, Perrilloux got himself in a predicament.

12/2/00 - Although state tourism hardly qualifies for this page, it is possible that some of these individuals may seek elective office later. Anyway, state tourism officials, it seems, have accepted several complimentary passes to play golf on courses all over the place. It seems they, supposedly, need to check out as many as 25 golf courses to see whether their plans are feasible. At $35 to $95 a pop, that's a significant ta-ta. Now, whether this is necessary is beyond reason. Do they really need to spend all this money to see whether a golf course is justified?

3/4/01 - Judge Dan Johnson of the 19th Judicial district (Baton Rouge) was ticketed for drunken driving after he wrecked his truck trying to cut across an interstate median. Judge Johnson also got summonses for not maintaining control of a vehicle, no license. This was apparently his first DWI.

1/8/02 - A few Quachita Parish officials and residents are concerned about a possible conflict of interest. It seems that six police jurors are also city employees. They say morally it's wrong even if the state says it's okay to be both.

3/12/04 - Donaldsonville mayor has been suspended after being convicted of malfeasance in office by an Ascension Parish jury. He's black. The jury was all white. He claims rascism. But, was it? Sounds familiar? Well, we'll see...

7/22/04 - Patrick Sanders of the St. John the Baptist School Board changed his mind on a previous school board vote. Seems that Mr. Sanders flip-flopped when it came to having the board pay for out-of-town conferences and conventions. The vote took these freebees away. Mr. Sanders apparently missed the fun and out-of-town adventures away from the scrutiny of his constituents. But something else, it seems, surfaced with this fiasco. You can't change your previous vote selection if it can change the outcome of the decision! And, Mr. Sanders' flip-flop did. And, because of this, Mr. Sanders needs to go! Have any of these conventions been in Las Vegas?

8/04 - The state Board of Ethics is suing former Baker Mayor Leroy Davis and his wife, Elaine, for mishandling campaign funds. The ethics complaint claims that Leroy Davis loaned Elaine Davis almost $2,000 for a 1993 school board election. No bank or other financial institution was named as required by law. It also showed that Davis filed a campaign finance report stating that this loan was being repaid, although it was never listed as a loan. Hmmm!
