| Since Rare Bear didn't compete during the 2000 races, the video clips are from her appearence at Oshkosh in 1994. The first clip is a taditional Rare Bear startup. Lots of smoke and thunder. | Unlimited Class Air Racer Rare Bear was unable to compete at the 2000 National Championship Air Races. Due to the enormous cost of having an engine rebuilt she will also sit out the 2001 races. Sad but true ! During the 2000 races she was no where to be found till I spotted her Tues. or Wed. in the back of a small hanger near the south end of the pits. I managed to shoot a few pics of her and if you didn't get to the races last year or didn't spot her while you were there, then these pics are for you. On Friday Rare Bear was tugged to the hanger where the work on Strega was done and put on display. |

| Miss America, flown by Brent Hisey, had a problem during race week and spent some time down at the south end of Stead getting things back in order. I thought I had heard that a radio problem was what they were working on. Word has it that she will be getting a true race Merlin and other mods and should be able to make an appearence in the Gold race. |
