Clams Gather No Moss As Swords Crack Half Shell Late |
Just when it appeared as though Coach Pedersen was preparing to lock lips with Coaches Birkel, France and Gill, Randy Moss came through for the Swords (and Coach Pedersen's manhood) with the game winning TD in an 18-12 Swords Week 6 victory. Moss also went over 100 yards receiving with the TD. With the win, the Swords took sole possession of 1st in the Dewey division. The Swords won despite continuing to start a RB in the QB position as Steve McNair once again turned in a poor performance with a mere 4 points, leaving Jeff Garcia (1st in the NFL in TD passes) on the bench with his 18 points. Olindo Mare had the Swords' other 8 points. For the Clams, the scoring was also simple: 8 points for Ricky Williams and 4 points for Steve Lindsey. The 4-2 Swords improve to 2-0 lifetime over the Clams and play 2-4 All World next week. The Clams (2-4) play the 4-2 Iguanas next week.

Iguanas Scale First Place With Win Over Small World |
The Greenback Iguanas, while still not playing to their 1999 level, continued to show signs of life in Week 6, enough so to take the lead in the Cheatem division by virtue of their 43-20 victory over the offensive All World. Again, Coach Dourisseau rolled snake eyes on his choice of QBs, leaving Rich Gannon (18 points) on the bench in favor of Tony Banks (0 points). Eddie George led All World with 8 points, who thought they could win without a starting K in Week 6. The Iguanas made them pay by scoring 15 points at the K position. Jake Plummer and Marvin Harrison scored 8 points each. While All World slumps to 2-4 heading into its game against the Palace of Swords next week, the Iguanas (4-2) will tee it up against the Bearded Clams.

Retreads Find Offense; Leave PMS Bloodied To Take Howe Lead |
After struggling offensively in recent weeks, the Retreads rebounded in Week 6 to defeat PMS and run their record to 4-2. First time starter Travis Prentice scored 18 points for the Retreads and Daunte Culpepper had another 14. PMS was led by Tim Brown's 14 points as they died by the Colts in Week 6. Manning had 6 while Dilger and Wilkins both were held scoreless against a strong Patriots' D. Meanwhile, Antonio Freeman was left on the bench against the same Lions secondary that was scorched the previous week by Randy Moss for 3 TD receptions. Freeman scored a TD. At 3-3, 0-3 lifetime against the Retreads, and having fallen out of the Dewey lead, PMS will meet the NFC Norris next week. The Retreads, now in sole possession of the Howe again, play the 3-2-1 King of Dogs in Week 7.

Norris Break Out In Win; Lineups Posted Successfully |
Both teams came to play this week-meaning that each coach was successful in posting his lineup. Coach Nerz' lineup was the better of the two this week, leading his NFC Ignore Us to a 44-25 over his long lost brother from the litter, Coach Rady and the Thing For Dogs. Ed McCaffrey stayed concussion free long enough to score a pair of TDs for the Norris and Steve Beuerlein finally got untracked to post 10 points. Rather than starting Johnny Morton vs. a weak Pack secondary, Coach Nerz opted to go with Jamal Anderson vs. the G-Men. No matter. All the Dogs really put up was 14 points from Terrell Owens and 8 points by Charlie Garner. The Norris, 3-1 lifetime versus the Dogs, improve to 2-4 entering a Week 7 game vs. PMS while the 3-2-1 Dogs, losers of two straight after a 3-0-1 start, face new Howe leader Retreads.

Zuma Goes 0 For 4 While Anderson Kick Mystics To Close Win |
Montezuma's Revenge took a narrow 22-20 lead into Sunday night's game on the strength of 8 defensive points and had Brunell, Sharpe, Alstott and Keyshawn still in the bag. To their chagrin, none of the four scored. The Mystics, shaking off an opponent's defense scoring against them for the 3rd week in a row, eeked out the win with 12 points from kicker Gary Anderson Monday night to overcome scoreless performances of their own from Robert Smith and Cris Carter to improve to 3-2-1. Along with 8 defensive points, the Revenge got 8 points from K Janikowski and 6 points from Stephen Davis. Anderson and Brian Griese led the Mystics with 12 points each. Donald Hayes scored 6. At 3-3 overall, 1-3 lifetime versus the Mystics, the Revenge play the Highways next week while the Mystics play the Gigis.
