Revenge Imrprove To 3-0 With Palatial Victory

The new millennial edition of Montezuma's Revenge continues to ease the 20th century version further into the shadows with its 3rd straight victory of the season, this week defeating the Palace of Swords. The Revenge performance was not outstanding but it was more than enough to get the job done and improve to 3-1 lifetime over the Swords. The Revenge was led by Stephen Davis' 12 points. Mike Alstott, Muhsin Muhammad and Sebastian Janikowski also scored 6 points each while QB Marc Brunell added a TD pass. The Swords ground game was solid with a combined 14 points by Jerome 'The Bus' Bettis and Curtis Martin. K Olindo Mare contributed 7 points but the rest of the lineup was shut out. First time starting QB Donovan McNabb put up a goose egg while backup Jeff Garcia, riding the Swords' pine in Week 3, would have been worth 12 points. The Swords, losers of their last two, drop to 1-2 and hope to rebound next week against the 3-0 Retreads while the 3-0 Revenge will try keeping the streak alive against the King of Dogs.

Retreads Take Over The World In Ugly 12-6 Win

In the second lowest scoring game in OFFL history, the Retreads left the field with a 12-6 win over All World. Kickers aside, only one starting player scored--for either team; Daunte Culpepper scored 8 points. Jason Hanson scored 4 points for the Retreads and Pete Stoyanovich scored 6 points, the only 6 points, for All World. The Retreads have scored a combined 40 points the past two weeks but have come out 2-0. For the season, the Retreads are 3-0, have won six regular season games in a row dating back to 1999 (eight in a row including playoffs) and will play the 1-2 Palace of Swords next week while All World tumbles to 1-2 and will try righting the ship against the Strange Highways in Week 4.

PMS Comes In Time To Leave Bearded Clams Messy

PMS parlayed Elvis Grbac's career day into a 39-26 Week 3 victory over the Bearded Clams in OFFL action. Grbac tossed 5 TD passes, scoring 20 points in all while WR Tim Brown added a pair of TD catches for PMS, who improved to 2-1. The Clams were led by 8 points each from Rickey Watters and Isaac Bruce. The Clams were hurt by the fact that starting K Mike Hollis was a scratch for the game; thus the Clams got no points from the kicking game. The decision to start Hollis was a bit of a surprise in that Hollis was questionable throughout the week leading up to the game. At 1-2, the Clams now prepare for their upcoming game versus Grandmaster G. PMS hopes to keep their modest two game winning streak alive against the Natural Mystics.

Mystics Assure Victory By Scoring League High Total For The Week

One way to win a football game is to score more points than any other team in the league. Using that logic, the Mystics secured their first victory of the season in a still narrow 43-37 defeat of the NFC Norris. Unfortunately for the Norris, they had the 3rd highest point total of the week around the league to no avail. The Mystics were paced by Marshall Faulk's 20 points. QB Brian Griese added 8, playing in spite of a slightly torn ligament in his shoulder suffered in the 2nd quarter. TE Jay Riemersma injured a knee and will be missing for 4-5 weeks. The Norris were led by K Joe Nedney's 15 points. The starting WRs Ed McCaffrey and Terry Glenn added 6 points each. The Norris counted on the return of Terrell Davis but Davis was a gametime scratch. The Norris, now 1-2, will meet the 1-2 Greenback Iguanas in Week 4. The Mystics 1-1-1 will play PMS.

'Wait Until Next Time' Must Wait Until Next Time For Highways

Coach Widtfeldt's Strange Highways had pointed to this Week 3 rematch against the King of Dogs as their opportunity for redemption for last season's crushing late season loss. The Highways will now have to hold that thought for another 12 months as the King of Dogs scored a 26-18 victory. To add insult to injury, the Dogs waited until 9:19 of the 4th quarter Monday night before scoring the winning points on a Jackie Harris TD catch. The Highways, led by QB Rob Johnson's 8 points, fell to 0-3 and have not scored more than 25 points in a game yet this season. The Dogs, now 2-0-1, were paced by WR Terrell Owens' 8 points. The Highways play 1-2 All World in Week 4 while the King of Dogs will play the unbeaten Montezuma's Revenge. The loss was also Coach Widtfeldt's 50th in OFFL history, nine more than runner up Coach Wassem, and their 4th in a row dating back to Week 15 of the 1999 season.

Grandmaster Continues Mastery of Iguanas With 33-18 Win

Grandmaster G got its first win of the 2000 season in Week 3 with a 33-18 victory over the Greenback Iguanas. QB Kurt Warner scored 10 points and K Jeff Wilkins had 11 for the Gigis. The Iguanas, coming off a 57 performance in Week 2, reverted to their Week 1 appearance when they tallied but 16 points (don't the Mystics just bring out the best in everyone?). Emmitt Smith and Tiki Barber each had a TD but there was little else up and down the lineup. At 1-2, the Iguanas try to put things right next week against the NFC Norris while the Blandmasters, 1-2, play the Bearded Clams (1-2).
