The Camping Trip

The Camping Trip

There's bit of OOCness on this fic, okay, maybe a lot! Just e-mail me if something's wrong ^_^

"So what do you think?" Yusuke asked, his arms crossed. Kuwabara looked at him.
"I guess it's kinda nice" he replied.
"What's it for?" Kurama asked.
"Well, for me, I just want to spend more time with Keiko" Yusuke said, with a dreamy look on his face.
"Really? I'm going to bring Yukina-chan with me then" Kuwabara screeched happily.
"What about you, Kurama?" Yusuke asked.
"Huh? Well, I just want to spend my time alone if ever I'm going to go with you" Kurama replied, changing his glance from Yusuke to the outside.
"What about Botan? Why not take her with you?" Kuwabara asked giving Kurama a sheepish grin.
"Ya, it'll be some kind of a triple date" Yusuke butted in.
"Having camp as a date?" Kurama asked looking at Yusuke with disbelief.
"Well, yeah, what's wrong with that?" he replied.
"I think it's kinda romantic, Kurama. Come on, it'll be great" Kuwabara added.
"I think not, what if she's too busy? I hate to hear her say 'no' to me" Kurama replied looking down.
"Kurama, what if I ask you now on who you would like to face at this moment, Karasu or Botan?" Kuwabara asked.
"Now how come Karasu entered this conversation?" Kurama asked, turning annoyed himself.
"Now who would you like, Kitajima-san?" Yusuke asked clenching his fist.
"Now how come Maya--"
"Just answer the damn question, baka!" Kuwabara shouted.
"Well, it has been a long time since I last fought. Maybe meeting Karasu would be great!" Kurama jokingly answered. The two sweatdropped.
"Damn it, Kurama, why wouldn't you just ask a simple question to simple girl?" Yusuke asked again.
"I told you, I hate to bother Botan!" Kurama replied.
"I'm telling you, Kurama, if Botan-chan didn't come, this camping trip won't be that good --- for you, that is" Kuwabara asked with the teasing and annoying look on his face. Kurama sighed.
"OK, but if she refused, you two are dead-ningens" Kurama replied.

"Botan-chan, are you in there?" Hinageshi asked Botan as she knocked at the ferry-girl's room.
"Is that you, Hinageshi-chan? Yeah, I'm here" Botan replied.
"You have a visitor, or should I say, visitors with the two saying they were only accompanying they're friend" Hinageshi giggled. Botan opened her door.
"Who are they?" Botan asked as she put on her usual ponytail.
"I think I saw them before. Oh I remember, I think it's Kurama, with Yusuke and Kuwabara behind him" Hinageshi giggled again. Botan gave her a confused look.
"What's so funny?" she asked.
"Oh, nothing, it's just that the two looked pretty stupid, as if trying to teach Kurama what to say and ---oops!" Hinageshi covered her mouth.
"Teaching Kurama to say---what?" Botan asked again.
"Uh, haha, just see for yourself, or should I say, listen for yourself" Hinageshi answered and ran outside.

"Okay, got it, Kurama?" Kuwabara asked.
"Why should I say that? I prefer saying it my way" Kurama protested, one of his eyebrows raised in question.
"Leave the genius alone, Kuwabara," Yusuke said tapping Kuwabara's back, "At least he has a way with words"
"What does that suppose to mean?" Kuwabara asked, clenching his fist.
"Oh nothing, it doesn't work like saying, like what you did to win or should I say, force Yukina-chan for you, 'OH YUKINA-CHAN YOU ARE THE LIGHT OF MY LIFE, I CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT YOU IN MY SIGHT. I CAN'T SLEEP FOR I AM NOT SURE IF YOU ARE ALRIGHT. OH YUKINA-CHAN, I SHALL PROTECT YOU WITH ALL MY MIGHT. IF ONLY YOU SAY YOU LOVE ME TOO AND WILL STAY WITH ME THRU DAY AND NIGHT, FOR YOU I SHALL SACRIFICE ALL MY FIGHT. I WILL KILL ANYONE IF THEY GIVE YOU TOO MUCH FRIGHT!" Yusuke said as he held Kuwabara's hand, gesturing what Kuwabara did to Yukina.
"What's wrong with that? And that was poetry you moron, I worked on that for three days!" Kuwabara said looking pleased with himself. Yusuke and Kurama sweatdropped.
"Uh, this is Botan, Kuwabara. She's not anything like Yukina" Kurama said.
"Yeah, Botan's not anything like Yukina-chan. Her voice is like that of a mouse but, sheez, her words and tone are like that of a war machine," Yusuke said with his hands behind his head as he usually does. Kurama took a glance of Yusuke and grabbed his collar (told you this wasn't Kurama-like, but maybe it's because Botan's what they're talking about here, hehe)
"You say that again and I'll rip your head off" Kurama whispered to Yusuke (see?) but Botan was on her way to the next room and has heard what Yusuke just said.
"You were saying Yusuke?" Botan asked angrily. Kurama let go off Yusuke and leaned on his chair. Yusuke hid behind Kuwabara. "Uh, that wasn't me, it was---" Yusuke said with a sweatdrop on his forehead.
"Actually, it's Kurama who is really wanting to talk to you" Kuwabara said.
"Huh? Ku-Kurama?," she said glancing at Kurama, "what is it Kurama-kun?"
"Huh? Um, eto, we were just wondering if you would like to come with us, in a simple overnight camp?" Kurama asked.
"Yeah, I bet you haven't been in a ningenkai forest before" Kuwabara said with a grin.
"Of course I have, it's just that I don't have time to enjoy it" Botan replied.
"Well, do you want to come, Botan-chan?" Kurama asked hoping she would.
"Wrong question" Kuwabara whispered.
"What do you mean?" Kurama whispered back.
"She can say 'no' with that question you know" Kuwbara replied.
"Of course she'll come, ne Botan?" Yusuke said putting his arm on top of Botan's shoulder.
"Well, uh, I'm---kinda busy---and---"
"Yeah, that's the spirit, she's coming guys!" Yusuke shouted blocking what Botan has to say. Now she doesn't have a choice but to come with them (nice one Yusuke hehe).
"Well, I guess," Botan replied.

"All set Yusuke!" Keiko cheerfully said as she closed the lid of the cooler.
"Come on, we have to pick up Kurama and Kuwabara and then we're leaving!" Yusuke cheerfully said as he lifted their bags over his shoulders. He placed the things at the back of the car, opened the car door for Keiko and were on their way to Kuwabara's place.

"Kuwabara-kun? Do you really have to bring Chi-Chi with you?" Yukina kindly asked Kuwabara.
"Huh? Well, I just thought that she might get lonely all alone here at home. I can't just trust my little Chi-Chi to someone else. Besides, I also thought you would like that" Kuwabara said scratching his head.
"Okay, Kuwabara, if that's what you want" Yukina answered cheerfully. She continued packing their stuff and waited for Yusuke and Keiko to pick them up.

Kurama sighed as he waited for Botan to arrive. Yusuke and Keiko must have finished fetching Kuwabara and Yukina from their house. They may be on their way to his house. He glanced out the window to check if there was a sign of Botan.
"*Sigh* Botan's late again" he said to himself as he looked out his window. As he searched the skies for her, he suddenly heard Yusuke's horns outside. He looked outside and saw Yusuke yelling up to him,
"KURAMA! COME DOWN QUICKLY OR WE'RE GOING TO LEAVE YOU AND BOTAN BEHIND!" Yusuke yelled, waving his hands to Kurama.
"THAT'S THE PROBLEM, BOTAN HASN'T ARRIVED YET!" Kurama yelled back. He was getting worried, for this trip won't turn out great if Botan didn't come, though he did tell Yusuke and Kuwabara that it would be better not to bug her with her busy schedule. He just hoped that Botan would give some more time for him.
"Kuwabara, I'm telling you, if that cat of yours messes up with my car, I'm gonna kill that myself" Yusuke said angrily. He didn't like the idea of bringing the cat with them, not as long as they're using his new car.
"I tell you, Chi-Chi is a disciplined cat. She won't pi, if that's what you think she'll do, just anywhere" Kuwabara replied.
"Well, to be sure, put her in your lap" Yusuke commanded, pointing his finger to Chi-Chi.
"Don't point on her, she doesn't like it!" Kuwabara yelled, slapping Yusuke hands from Chi-Chi. Yusuke frowned and looked at Kurama again. "Baka" Yusuke whispered.
"KURAMA! HASN'T SHE ARRIVED YET?" Yusuke asked, encircling his mouth with his palm. Kurama sighed and gave Yusuke a disappointed look.
"I GUESS SHE WON'T BE COMING, YUSUKE! BUT I WON'T GO IF SHE'S NOT COMING!" Kurama shouted back. Then, Kuwabara looked behind the car and saw Botan flying on her oar.
"Hey, Yusuke, there's Botan!" he pointed out.
"Who's that girl beside her?" Shizuru pointed at another girl riding another oar. Botan landed on Kurama's balcony, panting and trying to catch her breath.
"Sorry if I took so long, Koenma-sama and I are arguing, he want me to take Hinageshi-chan with me" Botan said as she tried to breath hard. Kurama looked behind her and chuckled.
"Guess he won. But we have the same problem" Kurama said looking at the person behind him. Shuuichi waved a hand to Botan as he continued to read his magazine.
"Kaasan asked me to bring him along" Kurama said. Botan giggled.
"I guess Hinageshi won't be a problem, I'm going to leave her with Shuuchi for a while, if you don't mind" Botan said cheerfully. Shuuichi quickly looked up from his magazine.
"Hey! Shuuichi-niichan, I'm not spending my time with any girl!" Shuuichi protested to Kurama, er, Shuuichi if that's what he calls him. "And I'm not spending my vacation with someone as rude as you, baka!" Hinageshi answered back at Shuuichi. Botan and Kurama sweatdropped.
"Hey, hey, you're the ones who wanted to come, so you've got to do whatever we say" Botan told the two. The two gave each other a sharp look and turned their back from each other. Suddenly, someone just appeared from behind the curtains.
"Guess I arrived at the wrong time huh?" Hiei asked. Kurama and Botan stared at him in surprise.
"Hey, you two look like you've seen a ghost" Hiei said, walking towards them.
"A youko to be exact" Hinageshi whispered to Botan. Hiei glanced at her and she hid behind Botan, giggling.
"Hiei, we were just having a camping trip, wanna come?" Kurama asked.
"No thanks, I just have to go back to Ma---hey!"
"GOOD!" Kurama and Botan chorused as they dragged Hiei outside. Shuuichi and Hinageshi followed.
"It's about time you came" Yusuke said impatiently.
"I didn't know Hiei was coming" Kuwabara said with an annoying look on his face.
"THAT'S BECAUSE I'M NOT!" Hiei said loudly in front of Kuwabara's face.
"Hey, not because you're Yukina-chan's brother, doesn't mean you can yell at me like that!" Kuwabara shouted back.
"EVEN IF I'M NOT, I CAN STILL AND WILL STILL SHOUT AT YOU!" Hiei shouted, even louder than before.
"Whatever" Kuwabara replied.
"Cut it out, let's just go on with our trip, Yusuke" Keiko complained.
Yusuke started the car and were on their way.

"Yusuke, please set up the tent" Keiko said handing Yusuke the bag.
"Kuwabara, why don't you help Yusuke" Shizuru said looking at Kuwabara who was lying beside a nearby tree.
"Oh, he can do that by himself" Kuwabara lazily replied.
"Hey, you baka, she's right you know" Yusuke said giving Kuwabara a bonk on the head. At the other side, Botan and Yukina are setting up the other things.
"Yeah, yeah, I'll help" Kuwabara frowned.
"Hey, Kurama!" Botan yelled at Kurama who was busily examining the plants nearby. Kurama turned his head to Botan.
"Have you seen Hina-chan?" Botan asked. Kurama stood up and replied,
"She's with Shuuichi, I told them to take a walk for a while" Kurama said walking towards Yukina and Botan.
"Can I help?" Kurama smiled at Botan who was having difficulty with the other stuff. Botan looked at him and smiled.
"Thanks! I could really use some help" Botan replied. Everyone was doing everything they are supposed to do, minding their own business when,
"Aaaahhhhh!" Kuwabara screamed. Everyone turned their gaze to Kuwabara.
"Now what?" Shizuru asked.
"Has anyone seen Chi-Chi?" Kuwabara asked. They looked at each other.
"I haven't seen her since we fixed our things" Botan replied.
"Well, I thought I saw her come out of the car," Keiko said with her forefinger in her mouth, trying to recall what she saw, "I thought she was going towards you, Kuwabara"
"But I haven't seen her since we got out, waaahhhh" Kuwabara cried.
"*sigh* We better look for the damn cat" Yusuke frowned.
"Don't you dare say something like that to my Chi-Chi!" Kuwabara said grabbing Yusuke's collar.
"Hey! Hands off! I was suggesting if we could all look for Chi-Chi!" Yusuke said.
"Fine, as long as I go with Yukina" Kuwabara said.
"Then, go with Yukina" Yusuke angrily said.
"I won't be coming with you" Hiei said suddenly.
"Why not?" Keiko asked.
"I'd rather stay with your things than look for a cat" Hiei replied.
"Me too, I'll be the one to set the tent, and you better help me" Shizuru said pointing at Hiei.
"Hn" was Hiei's reply, no one was sure if it was a yes or no.
"WHATEVER, LET'S JUST FIND MY CHI-CHI!" Kuwabara impatiently ordered.
They split up and started looking for Kuwabara's cat. Yusuke and Keiko went into the forest while Kuwabara, still crying, went with Yukina, Hiei wasn't sure about the idea but he just left them alone, Kurama went by himself and Botan rode her oar.

"Yusuke, for the last time, stop getting too close to me!" Keiko complained as Yusuke tries to look serious as possible to get out of trouble.
"You'll never be too sure if there are any wild animals around here, I'm just trying to protect you" Yusuke replied.
"But there aren't any yet, sure I hear there are some wolves around here, but I'm sure you can send them away easily without holding my hand" Keiko said, jerking her hand away from Yusuke's.
"Whatever you say but don't go to me when you see one" Yusuke said crossing his arms.
"Don't count on it!" Keiko replied, placing her hands on her waist.

"Kuwabara-kun, please stop crying, we're going to find your cat" Yukina patiently told Kuwabara who was still shedding tears, tapping him gently at the back.
"But what if we don't?" Kuwabara replied.
"We will, trust me" Yukina reassuringly said, smiling at Kuwabara.
"NO, WE'LL NEVER FIND HER!" Kuwabara yelled.
"FOR PETE'S SAKE KUWABARA, JUST PLEASE STOP WORRYING!" Yukina shouted, trying to catch her breath, getting a bit frustrated at what Kuwabara was doing, she wasn't used to shouting but he taught her how to get angry (if you are asking, she began being like that after their marriage, I mean who wouldn't if you got Kuwabara as a husband :D)
"Okay, I'll calm down a bit" Kuwabara replied.

"Yusuke, please!"
"What?!" Yusuke asked.
"Damn it Yusuke, we probably woke up the animals here!" Keiko complained, again.
"Well, you're the one who kept yelling at me!" Yusuke shouted back.
Well, for one thing, Keiko was right. All of a sudden, there were wolves, one by one, showing up to them! They were growling madly, probably they were asleep and got woke up by the two.
"Yusuke!" Keiko shouted.
"Yeah, yeah, I know!" Yusuke replied.
"What are we going to do?" Keiko asked, putting her hands on her face.
Keiko grabbed a piece of wood and began trying to make fire.
"Why can't I just use my rei gun?" Yusuke asked.
"If you do, you might send this forest on fire" Keiko replied.
"But---" Yusuke worriedly said.
"Hmph, who am I fooling? This will take forever to make" Keiko complained. Yusuke turned to Keiko and said,
"I haven't done this before but, it's worth a try" Yusuke said, holding up his forefinger, until a spark of light came out from it.
"But Yusuke---"
" I'll try to reduce the power but like I said, I haven't done this before" Yusuke explained. He readied his target and,
"REI GUN!" Yusuke's rei gun began hitting the wolves one by one, but he was having difficulty adjusting the power and accidentally fired a bit strong one on the last. The wolf ran around and hit a pile of leaves near a tree. The fire began to spread. Keiko looked at Yusuke horrified.
"Kuso!" Yusuke cursed and fell on his knees.
"We can only wish for a miracle to stop this" Yusuke said as the fire was getting bigger. Just their luck, Keiko felt a drop. She looked up as rain began to fall from the sky.
"Yata! Yusuke!" Keiko said happily.
"We better run for cover Keiko!" Yusuke said, putting his jacket over Keiko's head and lead her to the nearest tree.

"Just our luck, it's starting to rain" Kuwabara complained, again as the rain started to fall.
He held Yukina's hand and they both sat under a tree. Yukina glanced at Kuwabara who was panicking like crazy.
"Now what's wrong?" Yukina asked.
"It's getting colder and colder and the rains getting heavier and heavier, what would happen to Chi-Chi?" he replied. Yukina moved closer to him and tapped him on the back.
"She'll be alright, Kuwabara-kun, she's a smart cat isn't she?" Yukina comfortably said. Kuwabara glanced at her.
"Thanks, Yukina" Kuwabara replied. With that, Yukina smiled and leaned her head on Kuwabara's shoulder.

Kurama was sitting under a tree, like the others of course looking for shelter from the rain, waiting for the heavy rain to stop.
"I wonder what happened to the others," he thought, "and more importantly, what happened to Botan?" he looked up to the sky, hoping that she was able to shelter herself from the rain.
"Boy, it's really coming down" Botan said as the wind and water swept across her, from her hair down to her feet. She swoop down the forest floor to hide under a tree until the rain stops. It was getting cold. Botan hugged herself to heat her up a bit, but due to her wet jacket it was hard to do so. She took off her jacket and hugged herself. The wind is getting colder and stronger, as if trying to kill her. The wind is also pushing the rainwater towards her. The water spilled on her hair and face.
"This camping trip isn't working out at all" Botan thought getting frustrated with the situation.

Kurama felt something behind him across the tree he was sitting from. He looked behind it and, to his surprise, saw Botan who was shivering from the cold. He smiled and took off his jacket and put it around her. She looked up and saw Kurama, smiling down at her.
"Ku-Kurama-kun!" Botan said, surprised to see Kurama. Botan shifted to her right to give some room for Kurama to sit on.
"I was just thinking what happened to you guys" Kurama said sitting beside Botan.
"How come it rained suddenly, the day was fine a while ago" Botan asked as the rain was getting stronger. The wind swoop across her face again which really annoyed her. She wiped the water off her face and buried her face on Kurama's jacket. His jacket smelled like fresh roses, which was newly worn by Kurama a moment ago. Botan smiled at it and closed her eyes, the fragrance of rose playing across her dainty nose. They both sat down there, nothing to say and do, so they just kept steady under the tree which sheltered both of them from the rain.
"It's been a long time since we last saw each other" Kurama said breaking the silence. Botan lifted her head and looked at Kurama, wearing his usual smile. She looked down and smiled.
"Hai" she replied.
"How are you" Kurama asked. Botan glanced at him and smiled.
"Why do you ask?" she asked. Kurama didn't answer. He just smiled and looked down. To his surprise, Botan gently leaned her head on his shoulder. Kurama looked down at her. While she was doing so, he changed his position for her to be more comfortable on him. He carefully placed his arm around her, carefully to see if she mind. She didn't, she just snuggled closer to him. Kurama reached her hand with his free one, the other one around her. Her hands were cold as ice. His other hand reached for her other one, and he held them close to be able to warm them. He breathed softly and gently on them to warm them up. Botan closed her eyes and leaned comfortably against him, as Kurama rested his head on hers, enjoying the sweet fragrance of her hair, he also closed his eyes. Botan sighed as the two rested there, waiting for the rain to stop.

"Hn" Hiei said as usual watching the raindrops falling down the grass outside the tent.
"Can't you say anything else than that 'hn'?" Shizuru asked, irritated with her companion.
"Hn" was Hiei's reply. Shizuru sighed and leaned across the tent. It was getting cold, though the they were inside the tent. A moment ago, she was just fixing the things while Hiei was sleeping inside the tent, she wondered what is so great about it that Hiei liked. He set the tent all by himself, she wondered how he was able to do it, he didn't even use the instruction guide. When the rain started to fall, he woke up and helped her get the things inside the tent. It was big enough for ALL of them and their things.
"Aren't you getting cold in there?" Shizuru asked. Hiei glanced at her and shook his head.
"Why?" Hiei asked, the first word she heard him say that day.
"Nothing, it's just really cold, I can't believe you're not cold, even if you're near the door of the tent" she replied. Suddenly, Hiei threw something on her.
"Hey what the---" she said as it hit her.
"You said you were cold didn't you?" Hiei asked, still not changing his position, his arms and legs crossed, with his back leaning on the wall of the tent. Shizuru looked at it and realized that it was a blanket from her bag. The things were just beside him, she knew that he probably knew which one was hers. She looked at him and said,
"Arigatou gozaimasu, Hiei-kun"
"Hn" was his reply, with that Shizuru exhaled loudly, there they go again with the same 'hn'.

"Aaarghh! I should have obeyed Shuuichi-niichan and stayed at home" Shuuichi complained as he sat under a large hole on a tree, with Hinageshi beside him.
"Hmph! For one thing, I too, should have obeyed with Botan to stay in Reikai" Hinageshi complained, trying to be as far from Shuuichi as possible. She was cold but she doesn't want Shuuichi to know, he'll probably tease her that she was weak. She was trying to warm herself but she was shivering uncontrollably. Shuuichi saw her shivering, he was about to laugh when he noticed that there were tears on her eyes, not yet ready to fall. He stopped himself from laughing, instead he took off his jacket, which Kurama tied on his waist, he took off the dirt that was on it and handed it too Hinageshi.
"Here, Hina-chan, you can wear this for the mean time" Shuuichi said trying to comfort her.
"No thanks, I'm okay" Hinageshi said shaking her head.
"I don't need it anyway, you can have it for a while" Shuuichi said still waiting for Hina to take it. She took it from him and put it on her. He smiled after she put it on her.
"Arigatou" Hinageshi gratefully said, he wasn't so bad after all, she thought. Shuuichi came back on his side of the tree, looking at Hinageshi who was starting to fall asleep. He yawned and stretched his arms when he heard something,
"Meow" it said. He looked down and saw an orange cat, tapping his feet with its gentle paw. He picked it up and looked at it.
"Meow" it said again. He shook Hinageshi from falling asleep. Hinageshi scratched her eyes and looked at Shuuichi.
"Hey, Hina-chan! Isn't this Kazuma-san's pet cat?" he asked her. Hinageshi looked closer at it.
"Yeah, I think I saw him holding it in the car a while ago" she replied. Shuuichi handed the cat to her.
"Hold it first, we'll give it to Kazuma-san later" he said. The rain has almost stopped. Shuuichi looked outside and held out his hand outside.
"The rain stopped Hina-chan, we can go back now"
"I hope you can still remember the way" Hinageshi said smiling. Shuuichi stepped out and got the cat from Hinageshi's hand for her to be able to come out easily.
"We better go back, Kazuma san must be worried about his cat" Shuuichi said, taking Hinageshi's hand as they both ran back to the camping site.

"Chi-Chiiii!!!!" Kuwabara said as he ran to Shuuichi and Hinageshi who was holding his cat.
"Where did you find her?" Kurama asked Shuuichi.
"Well, she just said 'meow' and when I looked down, there she was" he explained.
"Hina-chan, are you okay?" Botan asked Hinageshi.
"Don't worry Botan-san, I'm fine" she replied cheerfully.
"Hey Kazuma-san, what's that?" Shuuichi asked, pointing at a wet spot on Kuwabara's shirt.
"Hn" Hiei said, again.
"So much for a disciplined cat" Yusuke teased. Everyone laughed. He looked down at his shirt and then turned his gaze to the cat.
"CHI-CHIIIII!!!!!"
