Tadaima

The sun has just risen out of the horizons, waking every sleeping figure its rays shine upon. The dark skies started to brighten up, emphasizing every detail of the nearly light blue sky. The song of the morning birds flooded the whole place, spreading another start of another busy day.

His eyes half-opened, he started scanning the whole room. The room was dark. He was still sleepy, and was about to fall asleep again when the annoying sound of the alarm clock hit his ears. 6:00am. The sun has risen, the cold morning wind sweeping across the room. He sat up and breathed deeply, the cold air running through his nostrils down to his chest. Another day has started. The alarm continued its racket, waiting for someone irritated enough to stop its shenanigans. Kurama reached out for it and gladly hit the stop button.
"As usual you're the one who ruins my peaceful sleep," he said still holding the darn thing. "I think you've cost enough trouble for me in one day" he leaned back from the bed and returned the clock from where it was before. As he leaned towards the table, his hand that was supporting him lay atop a very soft and delicate surface. He looked down at the woman beside him, those azure locks spread across the pillows, her face as peaceful as of a china doll with her head slightly cocked to the other side, eyes closed like no burden was ever laid upon her, feeling warm and safe from a cold world of mayhem. Her hands lay sweetly on his lap.
"And to think of all those we've been through just for me to have you" he thought to himself. He thought of the moment he has to take her away from the strong grip of that prince. He never held onto something that much. All the troubles he had passed, all the pain he had suffered, just for her. "It was worth it though," he added. In all of his life, he knew he doesn't belong anywhere. In Ningenkai, nobody knew who he really was, except of course for Yusuke and the others. In Makai, almost all youkos want to fight with him. In Reikai, they once wanted to capture him for stealing an artifact. Meikai...don't even think about it, he isn't that bad, isn't he? He never really knew if he could call anywhere his home. Sure, Shiori gave him the home and comfort he's looking for, but he really doesn't deserve her. Shiori only knew Kurama as Shuuichi Minamino, her only son and that didn't count for calling Shiori his own. Until now, he still seeks that only thing he wanted, something that'll make him feel complete.

Kurama reached out to touch her face. Soft and vulnerable, he commented. His thumb caressed her cheek, his lips laying a kiss on her forehead.
"Botan-chan, wake up" he whispered, as his mischievous teeth started nibbling her lobe. A small moan escaped her lips, pushing him gently out of the way. Kurama chuckled and kissed her again, this time on her cheeks. "Wake up," he repeated, feeling her heart beat slowly beneath his chest. She stirred slightly, but still refused to let slumber leave her. She turned aside, her back on him. A short laugh escaped his lips and held her shoulder, kissing her neck, his lips moving upward towards her ears again. "Love, wake up" he said, tapping her shoulder lightly with his fingers. She opened her eyes slowly, adjusting to the darkness. She moaned softly, like an angel and turned to him. She grins at him, but sweetly.
"Do you know how to wake a person up the normal way?" she teased. Kurama chuckled slightly and gave her another kiss on the lips.
"Ohayou" Kurama greeted. She smiled and fully opened her eyes.
"Ohayou gozaimasu" she greeted back, slowly stretching her arms upward. She covered her mouth as she stifled a yawn. She thought she heard Kurama chuckle again.
"Still sleepy?" he asked with a kiss. Botan quirked an eyebrow.
"Enough with the kissing already!" she said as she stood up, carefully pulling the strings on the windows, opening the curtains to the side. The sun's rays entered the room. Kurama shut his eyes from the blinding light, getting back under the warm sheets. Sleep overcame him again.

"Anata, please wake up!" a female's voice rang him up from his sleep. He stifled a yawn and opened his eyes. Botan sat beside him, wearing her bathrobe, her hands lay on his shoulder, shaking him lightly. "Kurama!"
"I'm up, Botan-chan!" he said, sitting up and looking for his slippers.
"I heated some water for you, see if it's warm enough" she said, pulling the covers off his body. Kurama groaned and stood up. "I'll make breakfast" Botan told him and walked out of the room. Kurama watched her, not taking his eyes off her until she disappeared behind the door of the room. He smiled and got onto his bath.

He got out of the shower, reaching for a towel to cover him up. He went outside as the cold wind swept across the room. Kurama shivered slightly and opened the closet door. He pulled off some working clothes and started to dress himself up.
"Kurama!" Botan's voice called for him downstairs.
"Hai, Botan, I'll be there in a second!"

"Tell me again why do you want to have a job that wants you to arrive early in the morning?" Botan asked him as she took a sip of her tea. Kurama sighed.
"It's the only one I can find, don't worry, I'll find a better one someday" he said to her with a smile. Botan looked at him curiously.
"And why do I have to wake up the same time as you?" she asked again.
"Because in this world, it's the women's job to do the housework, it starts when the day begins" Kurama explained. It was just a month ago since they were married, and don't ask how much trouble Kurama have been through just to let Koenma take her. He liked Koenma of course, in a friendly way, but when it comes to Botan, things can get pretty much dangerous. He couldn't forget the coldness in those brown eyes when he still refused to admit Kurama and Botan's love for each other. It wasn't until Yusuke and the others knocked some sense into the Reikai prince's mind.
"Oh, but I still can't get why it isn't the other way around" Botan said again, taking another sip of her tea. Kurama looked up from what he was reading and chuckled.
"And I still don't get why you always ask the same questions everyday" he joked. Botan grinned at him and stuck out her tongue. Kurama laughed. He stood up, went behind her as he bent down to give her a kiss on her cheeks.
"And you know? I don't even care a damn with those facts, as long as I'm with you" he said sweetly and tenderly, making Botan blush slightly. "And you know you're cute when you blush" he commented. Botan smiled and finished off her cup.

After that, both bid each other goodbye as Kurama set out for work again, leaving Botan behind with the housework.
"Okay...where to start?" Botan asked herself as she faced the whole house. She started fixing the plates on the dining table and placed it on the dishwasher. Another day had just started again.

Kurama had gotten home a little bit later than usual. He massaged his temples, shutting his eyes closed. A headache had just struck him. He opened the front door and entered the house.

"Kurama? Is that you?" Botan's voice called to him. Kurama let out a groan.
"Hai, Botan-chan, konbanwa" he said as he threw himself to the couch. Botan came out of the kitchen to welcome him.
"Dajioubu ka?" Botan asked him with concern. Kurama shut his eyes and continued massaging his temple. Botan sat beside him and placed his head on her lap. She held his hand off his head and started massaging him. Kurama sighed as he felt Botan's hands on him.
"Better?" she asked him. Kurama opened his weary eyes and saw Botan's sweet smile shine on him.
"Hai" he replied with a smile and a slight nod. Botan's smile brightened more. She continued caressing him, softly and tenderly, Kurama felt sleep knocking on his door.

For the first time, he felt safe in another's arms. He once lived all by himself, except for his allies, but he can't call them friends just like that. He opened his eyes slightly and looked at Botan for a while, with her head resting on his. She kissed him so sweetly, he can't resist closing his eyes again. Kurama smiled to himself as Botan cared for him lovingly. Only her, only her and her alone can make his life complete. Her sweet smile, her loving touch, those are the only things he needed. Only her warm love can make him feel at home...
