"Niisan" Yukina muttered. She held out her hand and tried to catch up with the boy in front of her. It was dark, Yukina couldn't make out his face, but something told her that he was her brother. The boy ran away, leaving Yukina behind him. Yukina couldn't catch up and cried again. "Oniisan!!!" The boy turned around. He smiled at her. Yukina stopped in her tracks. "Oniisan..." she cried as she ran to him.The boy stretched his arms to welcome her, and Yukina ran, ran to her brother. But as she got closer, the image of her brother slowly fades away. She stopped, hoping she could make it. She ran again, faster than before until they were just a few feet apart. Yukina stretched her arms, tears falling from her round red eyes. "Yukina" he managed to say. He waved a hand to her, but as Yukina stood up, he was gone. "Oniisan!!!"
Yukina sat up. She was sweating hard, her heart pounding in her chest. Tears fell on her eyes. "Oniisan, where are you?" she whispered. It was cold that night, and she had the same dream over and over again. Everytime she did, she would always wake up in the middle of the night, to see that she was still in Genkai's temple. She hugged herself from the cold and lied down again. She turned sideways, looking out at the half-closed door of her room. She realized the pearls that were scattered across the floor, she didn't know she had much tears to shed that night. She gathered them in her hands and walked to a nearby table. She opened a box and placed her tears in it, it was almost full, since she cried almost every night. She breathed deeply and went back to bed.
"Yukina? Yukina are you okay?" Botan asked thoughtfully. The sun has risen and Botan decided to pay themm a visit. It was a nice day, the birds were singning, the flowers are in full bloom, but Yukina couldn't take the dreams away from her head. "Yukina?" Botan asked again. Yukina smiled at Botan and shook her head. "I'm okay, Botan-chan" she replied. Botan nodded her head. "You know? you don't seem to be acting like yourself lately, Yukina-chan" Botan said as she took another sip of her tea. Yukina sighed again and just kept silent.
"YUKINAAA!!!" Kuwabara's voice rang up the temple. "Kuwabara! Keep down your voice!" Genkai scolded as she opened the door to her room. Kuwabara ran up to her. "Where's Yukina-chan?" he asked. She's in there" Genkai said pointing to a room across the hall, "but keep quiet!"
"Did you hear that?" Botan asked. She crawled to the door and stuck her ear. "Probably Kuwabara-kun" Yukina said with a smile. The door suddenly opened. "Yukina!" "Ohayou gozaimasu, Kuwabara-kun" yukina greeted as she stood up. "Hehe, ohayou Yukina, ey, is that you Botan?" Kuwabara asked as he turned to Botan who was lying on the floor. "Baka! Can't you knock?!" Botan asked furiously. "Hey! Who invited you?!" Kuwabara asked in reply. Botan stood up and glared at him angrily. "Huh? What's happening here?" a voice behind the door asked. The three turned to the person. "Ohayou, Kurama-kun!" Botan greeted with a smile, "what are you doing here?" she asked. "Just visiting, I think Yusuke and Keiko will be here too" Kurama answered with a shrug. Then Botan turned her gaze on the guy behind Kurama. "Ohayou, Hiei-kun" she greeted. "Hn" Hiei muttered as he entered and sat down.
"Having a little get-together eh?" Yusuke asked as he appeared behind the door. "Ohayou gozaimasu!" Keiko greeted as the two of them went in and sat down. Yukina came with a tray and some tea. "Drink up, everyone" "Hey, Kuwabara, where's Shizuru?" Keiko asked. "She'll be here any minute" he replied.
"Kuwabara!" Shizuru's angry voice took over the temple. She opened the door to the room where everyone was. She walked up to Kuwabara and looked at him angrily. "What's the big idea leaving me at the corner?" she asked. Kuwabara turned to his sister. "I---you were so slow" he reasoned. Shizuru clutched him angrily. "Why you---"
"Koenma?" Yusuke asked as he saw a figure behind the door. "Who else? Botan, thanks for the idea" Koenma said with a grin. Botan looked at him confused. "What do you mean, Koenma-sama?" she asked. Koenma sat down between Kurama and Botan. Kurama gave him an angry glare. "Haha, it's a joke, Kurama" Koenma whispered with a chuckle as he leaned towards him. Kurama closed his eyes and nodded. "Uh, Koenma-sama?" Botan asked. Koenma turned to her and waved his hands. "It's nothing Botan" he said and stood up and sat at Botan's other side.
The day turned out nicely. They talked a lot and laughed. They were getting kind of noisy. Yukina was the only one who was silent. She stood up. "Can I be excused for a moment?' she asked and walked out the door. "Yuki---" Kuwabara stopped as Genkai put her arms out. "Let her be alone, she's not feeling well" she said as she drank her tea. Kuwabara sat down and groaned. Hiei looked at Yukina as she ran out the door. He too, stood up. "I'll be going now" he announced. He walked out the door in silence.
Yukina walked down the steps quietly. She can't seem to forget about her dream. It kept bothering her. She walked carefully on the side walk. Her head down, she sighed. It was good to be alone once in a while. But hiding in the trees was Hiei, carefully keeping an eye on her. "Yukina" he whispered as he leaped from tree to tree. He eyed her protectively as she walked acroos the street. Hiei looked at her side, hoping there wasn't a speeding car on the way.
Hiei was startled as he heard Yukina scream. "Yukina!" he yelled as he jumped down the tree he was hiding in. A car sped on it's way towards her. The car almost threw her on the road, but it stopped just in time, though it did startle Yukina a bit. Yukina fainted but she was caught by Hiei in his arms. "Yukina" "Hiei-kun" Yukina whispered and fainted. "Sir, I'm so sorry, I didn't see her---I..." the driver apologized as he came out of the car. Hiei stood up with Yukina in his arms. He nodded with his eyes closed. "I'll pay for the damage I cost, I'm really sorry" the guy said again. Hiei shook his head and turned around. The guy bowed his head and thanked him. Hiei turned around and glared at him. "If only you knew what I should've done to you after what you did" Hiei muttered and walked away.
"Hiei!" Kurama came running down the street. The others followed behind him. Kurama ran up to him. "What happened?" he asked as he glanced down at Yukina. "She needs to rest" Hiei sighed. He looked down at her with concern. "Yukina!!!" Kuwabara called out to her. "Shut up!" Hiei yelled angrily and disappeared. "What the---?" "In Genkai's temple" Kurama said and ran to the temple. The others followed.
Hiei laid her down the futon on the floor. He wiped a tear from her eye and smiled. "Yukina" he called her. Yukina's eyes opened slowly. She was crying. "Niichan" she whispered. Hiei was startled. 'Does she know?' Hiei asked himself. He looked at her carefully. Yukina moved aside. "I want my brother" she cried. Her tears were shedding uncontrolably. "Niichan" Hiei wanted to tell her. It was so unfair for her. Hiei shook his head. "Yukina" he called her. He turned her aside and looked at her. Yukina smiled. "Hiei-kun? You know? You remind me of my brother" she said sweetly. Hiei smiled. He really wanted to tell her. "Yukina, if you want to, I'll be your brother while you look for the real one" Hiei offered with a smile. Yukina giggled. She threw herself to him and hugged him. She giggled again. "Hiei-kun, oniisan!" she cried happily. Hiei placed his arms around her and held her tightly. It was a great feeling to hug your sister, before, he couldn't go even an inch near to her. He sighed as Yukina buried her face in his cloak. "Now I want you to take a rest" he told her. Yukina nodded and lied down. Hiei placed the covers on her and smiled. "Thank you...oniisan" Yukina said and fell asleep. Hiei's smile faded. "Yukina" Hiei whispered. He kissed her forehead and went out the door.
"Why didn't you tell her?" Kurama asked Hiei as he closed the door. Hiei smiled and straighten his cloak and closed his eyes. He looked up at the sky and replied. "Someday, Kurama...someday"
