The sky was black, the stars were there. Botan flew
above the city and she saw that everything was
normal. As she passed by the park, she saw a familiar
person sitting on a bench, alone.
“It’s Kurama.” she said as she started going
down.”Wonder what he’s doing here.”
When her feet touched the ground, her paddle
disappeared and she changed her clothes, from her
kimono into something casual. Slowly she approached the
bench were Kurama sat.
“Hi Kurama! What are you doing here?”she asked.
“Nothing. I just came here to think.” Kurama replied.
“Can I join you?” said Botan.
“Sure.” Kurama replied.
Botan sat on the far side of the bench, not too close
to Kurama. Kurama looked up to the sky and said, ”The
sky is very beautiful, isn’t it Botan? I never had the
chance to look at the sky since I was small. I never
realized, until now, the the stars and the sky is
beautiful. It removes my worries.”
“Yeah.” Botan said as she also looked up to the sky .She
looked at Kurama and she saw that he was staring at
her. Botan blushed as she looked away from him.
“Come closer, Botan.” said Kurama.
“Ok.” said Botan. She moved closer to Kurama. Now they
were an inch apart.
“I have spent most of my life fighting alongside
Yusuke and the others. I just wanted to know how to
live with a normal life, no more fighting. Sometimes I
wish that I was dead, so I don’t have to worry about
anything.” Kurama said.
“Don’t talk like that!” said Botan as she tried to stop
herself from crying.”Do you think that dying will
solve anything?” Kurama looked at her and he saw tears
coming out of Botan’s eyes. Botan looked at Kurama and
continued what she was saying.
“Don’t you care for those who care for you? Don’t you
care for those who love you? Don’t you know what will
happen if you’re not here? How they will feel, how I
will feel…I love you Kurama, you just don’t know how
much I care for you. Even if you don’t feel anything
for me, I have a deep feeling for you. You just don’t
care!” As Botan said her last words, she stood up and
ran.
“You just don’t care.” she said, crying.
“Botan, wait!” cried Kurama as he ran after her.
“Don’t follow me, Kurama.”said Botan. Kurama stopped and
spoke.
“I’m sorry Botan for what I said.I…I love you!” shouted
Kurama. These words stopped Botan from running but not
from crying.
“It’s true Botan. I love you.” said Kurama as he walked
towards Botan. He stood in front of Botan and spoke
again.
“I just didn’t know that you felt the same
way, Botan. I’m sorry if it looked like I didn’t care. I
just didn’t want anyone to find out, even my
friends...that I love you. My enemies might harm you and
I never want that to happen. I just don’t want to see
you get hurt. Please forgive me Botan. Now I learned
that I was the one who was hurting you the most. I’m
sorry.” Tears began to fall from Kurama’s face.
Botan looked at Kurama, who was now kneeling in front
of her.
“Stand up Kurama, you don’t have to kneel. I forgive you
so please stand up. And for God’s sake stop
crying.”said Botan trying to be funny but she was
still crying.
As Kurama stood, Botan hugged him. Her tears fell on
Kurama’s chest.
“Stop crying now, Botan.” said Kurama as he patted her
back and wiped away her tears.
“Oh Kurama…” said Botan as she looked at him.
Kurama looked back and as he did, Botan’s lips pressed
against his.
As the two lovers walked in the park, they held each
other’s hands and looked up into the sky, where the
stars shine upon them, a witness to their love
