Lying on his bed all alone, Squall reminisced about the things that happened that day. Though it was actually a good day, nobody seemed to mind that he didn't quite enjoy it. Knowing him, they should've known by now all those fun they were having worth nothing to him. Funny how it felt that people are trying to get close to you though you don't know it. People want you to trust them. But what do you get when you do give them your trust? Nothing. Only pain and deceit. Al the people he trusted left him. Left him like a mother leaving her child. Left him like a foolish dog that was cast away, left alone in the rain. Like a piece of useless trash people would step at. It was awful. But why do they? Why do they still have hope? They act as if dying doesn't matter. Acting as if tomorrow would be there. They weren't scared, but why does he feel different? Why?

It's just that I recall

He fell into a deep sleep after of his deep thinking. He dreamt again. About her. Sis. I'd be okay without you, sis...I can take care of myself...it was raining. Raining so hard and he was left all alone in the orphanage. All alone with no one to hold him. As the tunder and lightning began to storm the sky, Squall stared at it as if nothing mattered. He woke up in the middle of the night after having the same dream. Thinking about it, he almost had that dream eversince he was left all alone.

"Squall?" Rinoa's voice came up to his ears like an alarm clock. Squall opened his eyes to her staring at him. "Squall, wake up" she said again. He sat up as she backed away a bit. "Do you have something to do? Can you give me a tour of the place? It's kinda big and I might get lost"
He refused, but knowing this girl in front of him, he'll never win. What does he have to lose? He won't die taking her wth him. He agreed. Walking around, he took her to every place in Balamb Garden. Rinoa would just watch in awe of everything he has shown her. Then they came to the infirmary. Dr. Kadowaki, the garden doctor, arrived.
"Squall! Not everyday you bring a girl here. Is she your girlfriend?" she asked him. Squall looked at Rinoa.
"Yes" he answered. Rinoa was shocked.
"Squall, are you serious" she asked him, still in shock of what he said to the lady doctor.
"Yes" he answered. Rinoa was dumbfounded.
"Squall..."
"I'm seriously joking" he cut in.
"Oh..." was all Rinoa could say. Dr. Kadowaki just laughed.
"I'll leave you two now" Squall then led Rinoa out.

Time passed. It was as if time passed swiftly like a rocket, he never would've thought it was time to face the sorceress. They had lost Seifer to her. He had become his puppet, or as he calls it, her knight. The first plan backfired. It didn't work on her. All he did was to fight with Seifer. As always, he was so desperate about ending Squall's life. That guy really has a problem in his mind. By now, they have also learned that Edea or the sorceress was Matron, the kind lady who owned the orphanage they were once in. The kind woman who had taken care of them. The reason why he was in Garden. She had somehow changed. She now wants to kill them. It's time to face reality. It's time for the final battle.

As expected, Seifer was with her. After beating Seifer up, they now faced Edea...Matron. Somehow, somehow they have defeated her. She had lost to them. So does Seifer. But when he woke up, he saw Rinoa walking up to Seifer, struggling to make it to him. She then knelt down and held him. Squall was surprised. Seifer then stood up and walked away, leaving Rinoa following him with her eyes. She then fell down on the floor. Quistis came to her and called him.

Rinoa had fallen into a comma. Squall could only stare at her pale face as he walked back and fort in the infirmary. She was so quiet. He wasn't used to it. Her face wasn't that pale. It usually had this certain glow. No matter how hard he tried to deny it, he needed to see her bright and well again. He wanted to hear her voice. He knelt down beside her bed and held her hand. He was then called into the cockpit. Taking a last glance at the sleeping face, he went up. They had somehow found out how to recover Rinoa. They talked about it and decided to take Rinoa to Ellone, or Sis, the way they call her. They had found out where she was.

Squall stared at her pale face again. He knew the others will be furious when they found out, but it was for the best. He took her in his back and carried her out. As they walked, he kept talking about everything he hid inside himself. Knowing she couldn't hear it, he still kept talking. Everything. Everything he had hidden inside him as a child. How he felt, everything. As he put her down to rest, he looked at her closed lids, her almost dead face. His eyes were soft, but still firm.
"That's a secret, okay?" he told her, referring to the things he had just said. There was no answer. He sighed, feeling like a total fool. He stood up and gathered her on his back again. Strangely though, the others have been waiting for him ahead all along. He didn't have a choice but to go with them. After certain battles, they had somehow made it to their destination. Ellone wasn't there though. They have to go to space to be able to meet with her. They agreed. Rinoa was already in a cold sleep state, all they need to do now is to follow her. Squall picked a member, Selphie and then they were off, leaving Zell with Edea. She was the old Matron now, only she was still a sorceress so she needed someone to be with her. They were now set off to space.

After he was shown the lunar surface, and about the lunar cry, he was now on his way to meet Ellone. As he was talking to Ellone, the alarm was set off. Only one thing came into Squall's mind. Rinoa! He quickly ran to her, but only to be surprised as she was walking along the halls of the place but still asleep. It was as if something was conrtolling her. No matter how hard he tried to get to her, some kind of force always pushed him away. Rinoa he followed her everywhere until she doodled with somethings in the control panel. He still followed her when she dressed up for space. Only, he wasn't able to follow her into space. All he could do now is to go back. He was beginning to panic. Why was he feeling so nervous, as if his heart was going to pop out of his chest right then and there. They only watched Rinoa as she destroyed the things in Adel and freed her, at the same time, beginning the lunar cry. Everybody was in panic, Selphie was asking what was going on with Rinoa. Squall couldn't do anything. Rinoa was pushed firther in space, and she couldn't get back. Her life support system would wear off any minute and she would die. The thing they were in is about to set off. He followed the others to the place where they would be safe. Still in his space suit just in case, he again pleaded over Ellone about bringing him to Rinoa's past, hoping he would understand what happened to her. Ellone could only regretfully shake her head, saying she couldn't bring him to her past because she doesn't really know Rinoa.

"GOD! RINOA'S GONNA DIE! I'VE NEVER FELT THIS WAY BEFORE IN MY WHOLE LIFE! PLEASE ELLONE!" he pleaded and pleaded. Fortunately, Ellone agreed. She took him to Rinoa's past, the way she tortured Irvine just to be sure he and the others were safe, the way she asked Zell for a replica of his ring. It was the wrong past though, but it made Squall feel a little bit cheered up seeing Rinoa at that time again. Ellone tried once more. It was the right one this time. Squall saw the whole thing. Ultemecia, the sorceress that was inside Edea, was now inside Ronoa! He couldn't do anything! After waking up, he decided to save her. He won't let her die. Ellone then help him reach her with his voice.

Rinoa was drifting slowly into space. That's it...I'm gonna...I'm gonna die was all she could think of. Her life support system has already terminated, and it was a big possibility that she'll really die. Her eyelids were getting heavier and heavier. She's dying. All she could think of before she go was...Squall. As her life seem to end slowly, the rings that she wore around her neck, the ring that has a lion in it which was Squall's and the plain ring wherein Zell was supposed to carve the lion in were drifting slowly in front of her. She smiled and tried to reach for them. Then, she heard it. He was calling her. Squall! He was telling her not to give up. He was telling her to survive. He was telling her she's going to make it.

Squall woke up. He then bid Ellone goodbye and walked up the ladder.
"He's really going to do it!" was all Selphie could say in shock. Squall went up and then out. He looked around for her. There! She was there in his view! If only he could get in front of her and catch her. He struggled to get to her. Not sure if they'll make it, all that was in his mind was to save her. He won't let her die. He won't! He drifted closer and closer. He reached her from behind. He held her close to him. Rinoa thought it was all a dream, but Squall reassured her it wasn't. She turned to him and snuggled closer. He was her only hope to survive now, but it didn't matter. Death or life, all that mattered was they were together.

Fortunately, they were able to enter a deserted spaceship. As they walked inside and took off their spacesuits, they stopped at a certain point. Squall stared at Rinoa who was in the corner staring at him.
"W-What?" he asked her. Rinoa just smiled sheepishly.
"Squall, thank you. You saved me again, I couldn't thank you enough" there was a pause after that.
"I only did what I wanted to do" he replied. Rinoa smiled again. Squall just watched her there, watching her straighten herself. Now what? Squall watched her as she stretched out her arms.
"Give me a hug" she said. Squall could only look at her. "The spacesuit was between us a while ago" she said, merely jumping in place waiting for him. "And make it tight" she said, hugging herself. Squall still hasn't moved. Rinoa stood straight. "I want to make sure I'm alive"
"But we're not sure we're going to make it. We still have to go on. You do want to live and go back to see the others, right?" Rinoa nodded.
"And not become other people's memories" she added. It was Squall's turn to nod. After defeating the different colored monsters around the ship, Squall and Rinoa made it to the cockpit. Squall sat in one of the seats. He told her to take a seat as well. Rinoa then jumped in to his lap. They talked after that. Though Squall asked her to sit down on another seat, Rinoa always asked to take a little longer with her in his arms. Moments later, they were paged. After following the directions, he was asked how many they were in there. He told them that he was with Rinoa. That's where he found out that Rinoa was a sorceress. She had become one after Edea's powers were transferred to her. She agreed to be taken with them after they landed.

Squall just sat there alone, without her now. She was taken to Sorceress' Memorial to be taken away from him...forever. Selphie and the others came in and encouraged him to save her. That's when he realized his mistake. He won't let Rinoa be taken away. They now set off to Sorceress Memorial. There, they went in to take her.
"What are you doing here? This is a restricted area!" one of the guys there said.
"...To do what I should've done earlier. I never know unless I do it" he answered.
"What are you talking about?" the guy asked.
"I know what I want and what I have to do. There's still a chance. I'm not gonna look back. I'm taking Rinoa with me"
"You can't! It's too late!" as he said it, Irvine and Quistis took out their weapons and showed it off, telling Squall to go to Rinoa. He went to her and broke the pipe. The glass Rinoa was in broke down. She came down to him in his arms. He held her to him as Rinoa succumbed to his presence. Ony to realize she shouldn't.
"Squall don't, I'm a sorceress" she said, trying to pull away.
"I don't care" Squall replied. Tears almost fell from rinoa's eyes as she threw herself to him. Squall held her the same way.
"Squall! Rinoa!" they heard Irvine call.
"Let's go" Squall told her. Rinoa threw herslef to him again and they now set off.

Now content with someone to love and to protect, he realized that all he had feared were all worthless. Not worth of the fear he had. Eventhough the battle wasn't yet over, he had her with him now. He will now be with her no matter what. He now know that with someone beside you and to love you, there is nothing to worry about.
