Author's Note:What happened after the motel room scene? Scully is missing her son. She begins to regret her decision to give him up. She shared her feelings with the man she loves about their son.

Scully woke up in Mulder's arms. It felt so wonderful to have him back safe and sound. But something inside was missing. She knew that it was William. She had only given him up a short month ago. Soon Mulder was awake. He stared at her for several minutes.

"You must miss him terribly."

"Yes, he was the only thing that kept me going when you were gone this past year and then I did something so stupid as to give him up to complete strangers. Mulder I don't know how you could ever forgive me for giving up your son."

"First of all he is your son too and you did it for his protection not to cause him any harm."

"But Mulder if the world as we know is gonna end in the next few years, don't you want are son to spend those precious years with us."

"Scully all I want is for us to be together and for you to be happy and if you want him back than we'll get him back."

"The adoption isnt' final until 60 days after it was issued. So I can still change my mind. Come on I have to call the adoption agency."

A few days later they were at the adoptive parents home. The mother brought William out. She had tears rolling down her cheeks. She quickly handed the baby over to his mother and went inside. Scully and Mulder knew it must have been hard to give him up. Mulder went over to his son and the woman he loved. He held onto them. It never felt so good as to hold them in his arms. They began their lives together that day. They would face the challenges that would come in the future. But until then they would cherish what was lost and now found.
