Somebody Else

Author's Note: I wrote the first two chapters to this story two years ago. Now I am going to post them and continue to finish it on the web. This is my first story where I have created all of the characters. Mostly I write fanfiction for my favorite shows, where the theme and characters are already created for me. This was a challenge, but I think for my first attempt it is not to bad. I hope you enjoy.

Chapter One

Samantha woke up early on Saturday morning. She got out of bed and took a shower. Then she went downstairs and ate breakfast. Then she went and got her bike from the garage. She rode a mile to Winchester Stables. The she saw her friends Dana, Caitlen, and Lindsey. They all said hi and good morning to her.

She went into the bathroom and changed into her riding clothes. Then she saddled Danny. Danny was a black thoroughbred gelding who was eight years-old. He moved at just the slightest command. When she was leading Danny to the ring she saw a note posted on the main message board so she read it.

Dear Students,

I am unable to teach class due to an emergency. You may use the ring to work on your skills that we learned this Thursday. Or you may use the time to go on a trail ride with your friends. I will be back Monday for normal classes. Thank you for your understanding.

Sincerely,
Sandra Riese

Samantha quickly leasd Danny out to the ring and then mounted and rode into the ring. She m oved Danny into a canter. Danny quickly changed pace. Sam saw Danna come in and wave.

Dana says,"Isn't this great?"

Sam replies,"Yeah this is going to be so much fun. I can't believe we don't have classes today."

"Yeah but I like it.",Dana replied

Sam moved Danny into a faster pace. Later she met with her friends. They all decided to go for a trail ride. Danny was jumpy and he seemed nervous. Samantha gave him a reassuring pat. He calmed down, but later he seemed to get fidgety. When thay reached the highway Danny was very nervous. They looked both ways and started to cross the highway. A loud noise came from the road and Samantha saw that there was an accident It was all that Danny could take. He bolted and ran towards the accident. Another car came out of no where. Samantha tried desperatley to get Danny out of the way. She heard her friends screaming behind her telling her to move. Danny wouldn't budge he was frozen in tearer and Samantha's whole life flashed before her eyes. The car honked for her to move and tried to stop, but it was too late and it hit them dead on. Samantha went flying over the hood of the car. Danny was pushed off the side off the rode. The blood and glass all over the ground.

Samantha's body lay unconscious in the middle of the road. She had a big gash on her head. They heard an ambulance. They ran out with stretchers. The paramedics were working quickly to get Samantha stabilized. Her neck was put into a brace. She was strapped to the stretcher. They were pumping oxygen into her. Her friends watched in horror as their best friend was put into the back of an ambulance in pain. Unable to do anything to help her. Cailten had tears coming down her eyes as she stood frozen.

Dana walked into the emergency door of the hospital. She walked down the hall to ICU where her room was. Dana found Samantha's father John and his new wife Rebecca holding each other crying. She went into Sam's room and saw Sam's mother Stephanie holding her daughter's hand and telling her not to give up. Dana couldn't hold back her tears anymore and she began to cry. Stephanie saw Dana standing behind her.

Stephanie spoke to her,"Samantha always loved to ride. It meant more to her than anything in the world. I encouraged her to follow her dreams, but to be careful. I need her to live so much."

Dana replied,"Samantha was a good friend. She helped me get through my parents death then she listened to my fears of when I went to live with my aunt and uncle. I don't know what I would do it I didn't have her there to talk to."

Stephanie spoke to her daughter,"Samantha you hear that. You have so much to live for. You can't give up and die, we need you her to be with us. You are so young, and you have your whole life ahead of you."

Two days later Samantha opened her eyes for the first time. When she saw all the floweres and her mother she didn't remember anything or anyone. She didn't know who she was, where she was, or why she was there. The doctor did some tests and said that she had a rare case of amnesia. Which was not uncommon after such a traumatic event. He said all they could do was wait and see if it was temporary or permanent. Her whole family tried to act like nothing was wrong and fill her in about her past. She looked at the wounds on her body. She cried when she couldn't remember how she had gotten them. No matter how much she wanted to remember she just couldn't. She felt bad when someone came in and she didn't know who they were. Dana had visited a lot the last couple of days and talking to her about their friendship and their love for riding.

A week had passed and the doctors said she was out of the woods. She was released from the hospital. When they got to her house nothing looked firmiliar. There were so many pictures of her and other people around the house. When she went up to her room she found dozens of pictures of herself and a black horse. She looked at her room and she fell on her bed crying. She felt as if a part of her was missing. She was in somebody elses house, somebody elses room, and somebody elses body. She couldn't bare to face her family and friends who were strangers to her and act like everything was alright, because it wasn't. She vowed there and then that she would never ride or have anyhing to with the black horse in the picture. She promised herself she would never be the same again and that she would always be somebody else.
